My Father is the same. I find it rather endearing, as we might only speak eight sentences but they seem to mean more.
  • Might have to change mine, have had four phone calls tonight!

I speak to my mum pretty much every day, and we email or text if we've not spoken for a couple of days. My husband and I see my mum and dad weekly, and I see my mum for one morning a week - we usually pop into town or a nice tearoom. Hopefully we are going to do a couple of longer days out once my maternity leave starts - have already got a spa day booked and a trip to London is pencilled in too! My dad and I don't talk as often, but only because he's a bloke! He still knows me very well and if I was stranded on a night out with no taxi money I know I could count on him.

I would say I'm particularly close to my family and I really miss them when they're on holiday, and even though my husband's great, sometimes I just want a cuddle from my mum or dad :rotfl:

I see or speak to my mum every day, for a while was twice a day due to dad being so ill, but now work 12 hour shifts and dont think she would appreciate 5am visits! I also take her shopping etc as she can't drive, and am generally around to help with all the diy jobs dad did before he died. OH phones his mum weekly if I remind him, doesn't visit his dad as it upsets him too much- dads got advanced dementia and is in a care home. I visit his mum and dad, and help her out with hospital appointments, dealing with care home etc. We all get together at christmas etc if I'm not working, thankfully all the parents always got on well! My brother lives in the states, and phones when he can be bothered, mum's off to visit him in 2 weeks, I will get a bit of a break but really will miss her and worry about her on the flight alone, its her first trip since dad died!

I see my parents at least twice a week and i speak to them every other day. We don't see or speak to my inlaws as we have fallen out with them because they couldn't be bothered to have any contact with us. Bit ironic really. My parents are constantly upset with my younger brother who lives away and they are desperate to have contact with but he just doesn't seem to be bothered.
I guess some people are just less family orientated and don't need them so much in their life.
I think it's sad though that so many families are feuding and estranged.

I see my parents 2-3 times a week and my mum and I text or chat on the phone most days.

We see OH's parents once a week, which they appreciate as their other son only sees them a couple of times a year (and only lives 20mins away)

I see my parents a couple of times a week and speak to my mum everyday.

My MIL speaks to my DH about once a month (she lives 23 doors down my road (yes I counted)) in fact it was my DS Birthday the other week and she knocked on door and asked if i could pass on the presents to my son!

I see them a couple of times a year (xmas and my birthday generally) and speak about once or twice a month. The longest i went without speaking to them as i was busy with work and uni was 3 months :o mum ended calling me out of worry.

Looks like i'm in a minority! If we spoke everyday 1)my phone bill would be through the roof and 2)we'd run out of things to talk about!
