    Oh brilliant

I didn't know that. I'm so glad I have long cycles *looks for the rolls eyes smiley*

Moan warning - as I was coming on here to have a pity me moment anyway.....

I’m getting really stressed waiting for my results now. I just want to know that everything is done and dusted – well for the next 6 months at least.

It just seems to have dragged on and on (in two days time it will be 4 months in total). If it comes back I think I’m going to use my BUPA cover as hopefully that will speed things up a bit.

In fairness to the NHS I guess it hasn’t been too long in the grand scheme of things but I’m a complete worrier at the best of times.

((hugs)) hun. time really seems to drag when you're going through the mill. Fingers crossed for a good result very soon xx

Have been keeping my spirits up by reading this, which was an interesting read

    http://www.babymed.com/pregnancy-testing/negative-home-pregnancy-test-hpt-could-i-still-be-pregnant

Don't panic other BFNers today. A 9dpo test is completely meaningless. It would be more likely to be negative than positive even if you were in fact pregnant at the moment, as your HCG levels at this stage are almost undetectable. Having spent some time googling, there are lots of pregnant women out there whose HCGs at my stage (12dpo) are around 8 as measured on blood tests, which is also undetectable on even the most sensitive POAS. Given that they are supposed to double every 2 days, that would make them about 2.5 at 9dpo and the most sensitive tests can't detect anything under 10. And in fact, your normal level is apparently between 2 and 5 even if not pregnant.

Thats the same as what I read and posted from FF too; doing a test that early is pretty much pointless. I think it said on FF only 10% of pregnancies would show a positive on 10dpo. The best time to do the test was on the day your AF was due, so typically around 14dpo.

So really doing tests that early is just likely to make you feel depressed whether you go on to be pregnant or not! :)

Thanks - think I've got batteries so good to go. Must be designed by a man if you buy the monitor but it's actually no good to you without buying other stuff!
    :rotfl::rotfl:
Doesn't stop it being scary though - thinking about the impact on our lives. We do lots of travel, going out, doing stuff on a whim, work away/ long hours etc. which could all be different in the future. He's really laid back & patient so would make a great Dad.
I know, it'll be another kind of adventure though:)

Thanks ladies, your hair knowledge ties in with what’s happening to me. I haven’t got any bald spots as such so I guess it’s the hormones. Why doesn’t it make my leg hair fall out? That’s the real question.
IF you find out something to make unwanted hair fall out let me know:D

    It will come soon (((hugs))).
    Good afternoon Ladies,
Wondering if I can join in
    Welcome:wave:
but that means a luteal phase of 18 days which is long and still no AF! I dont know!!!
So waiting for AF to start again!!!!
You may have ov'd later, hope the TLP wasn't an evap:o
But the discernable difference is the ones done after Sunday havent been FMU (Sunday was FMU) - I dont know if Im clinging on for dear life to a pipedream here but we will see !!
FMU will make a difference. Will you be testing tomorrow morning too?
do people normally continue the Ov sticks after they've had a smiley (or equivalent) to make sure ? I read that the egg could've had trouble "bursting out " and it could take longer than 24-36 hours in that case...
One may not ov, and may get another surge and ov later.
Forgot to say had really tender bo*bs as well for last 3-4 days...
Tender b o o bs could be an AF symptom, fingers crossed it isn't:o

    Good afternoon Ladies,
Wondering if I can join in - registered as new user so as not to be seen by anyone who knows me ! Can do without the added pressure!
    We have 2 kids 6 and 3 and would like a 3rd.
This cycle started on 3/9 - used Clearblue Digital Ovulation kit - got smiley on Day 8 - Had BD'd Day 7, 8 and 9 as it happens!
So am now at 18 dpo if you count ov day as day 9 - but done HPT this am (as well as several since 10 dpo!) and its negative.
Got my hopes up - did one Sunday just gone - negative - but when I looked later in the day there was a line there! I know I know shouldn't take notice when its past the 3 minutes - they've been Superdrug 10 miu ones too so not holding out any hope - but that means a luteal phase of 18 days which is long and still no AF! I dont know!!!
So waiting for AF to start again!!!!
Look forward to joining in now not just looking at everyone elses contributions!

    Hi and welcome :)

Have you been tracking your temperatures and CF? They are usually a good indication of what is going on. The only thing I can think of is if your body may have been getting ready to release and egg but then didn't and released one later on in the month resulting in what seems like such a long luteal phase. Sorry can't be much more help but I'm sure the other ladies on here will have some other suggestions.

Hope your stay on here is short and sweet :)

TTC40. We have 3 children, and still go out and travel. OK we don't trek round the Himalayas but we never did that anyway. But we do go abroad at least twice a year, and have done since our oldest was about 3 months old. Babies and children are good travellers if they start early enough!

We also go out at least once a week. We have a regular babysitter every Friday night. This is a relatively new phenomenon, but I wish I'd thought of it years ago! It makes a huge difference to our stress levels.

DH also still works ridiculous hours as and when needed, and also travels abroad for work several times a year. He works in the city and often gets home well after midnight. I gave up work when my middle child was about 2 as I personally couldn't cope with the demands of a young family and the insane work culture in my place of work, but I do know plenty of dual career families, whose children are perfectly happy and well adjusted.

It really only has to change your life in the way that you want it to. Most of us find that when kids come along we want to take the foot off the career pedal for a while to spend more time with them, but if that isn't going to make you happy, it is a perfectly viable option to work fulltime and have someone else care for your child during working hours.

I'd love to be a full time mum, but I don't think that is possible.
I'll think about childcare if I end up having a baby, no use counting the chickens before it hatches:o
