Nicki - so sorry about the hire car situation, no wonder you are stressed. Such a shame when you were doing do well driving it that it got damaged when it was parked up. Good luck with bding though even though it may not be the best of times.

Cmills - welcome and good luck when you test.

I am cd3 and got my blood test this morning. I am normally fine having blood taken so hope it will go ok.

    Mokba, Cmills, Welcome!!

I'm babysitting tmrw night, don't really mind as I am not keen on nye and rather earn £100 for 5.5 hours. MY OH will be with my brother, probably abusing the playstation by playing all night.

I don't like dieting, I only cut out rubbish for the time being. I fail at dieting as I crave what I can't eat. I am a size 10-12 but want to be a comfortable 10 by the end of Jan. I find that if I eat breakfast (usually 2 oatibix), lunch (soup with one slice of toast) and proper dinner, plus have small snacks such as yoghurt and nuts/fruits than I lose 1lb a week. I weight myself on Wed and I was 9st 8lb which is 2lb more than I thought. I've been so far good for 2 days!! I am planning to start swiming too from Jan, I used to go to the gym 4 times a week but have given up a year ago when I torn my ligament, than broke my toe.

Didn't know one had that many on natural cycles.

Wow that's a whole carton of eggs! Really hope that one of them is The One! :T

Actually, when shopping today I didn't buy anything because I didn't know what size to get. I'm either going to be getting smaller or a lot bigger this year depending on which way things go :rotfl:!

I have been doing the same thing! :o Put about a stone on this year and I don't want to buy things in my current size as I know that I should be losing weight... but then I don't really want to risk spending much money on anything I hopefully won't fit into for long!

NO TTC40 you haven't missed a post. I've just not been very well over xmas. AF sure enough arrived on xmas day which was fun.
    So CD5 here for me.

Hugs for AF arriving on Christmas day, happened to me too, was a lovely present! Hope you're feeling better, I was boasting in the lead up to Christmas about how I hadn't been ill yet and I'm *always* ill over the holiday... then on Friday I was struck down! :p

Having quite a stressful time here though, due to car problems. I am not a very confident or experienced driver because we have always lived in London and I've never needed to do more than the school run. But we need a car to get round here and when we were packing OH could not find his driving licence so couldn't go on the hire car agreement as a driver. So I've had to do all the driving, which has been made worse by the fact they didn't have an estate car as we had booked so "upgraded" us to a minibus! I have never driven anything so big and heavy before, it is a 9 seater bus. I've been pottering around so carefully though and being quite stressed at the thought of any long journeys we had planned to visit family, only to have my mother tear out of her drive in reverse this morning and slam straight into the back of it at speed, where it was parked neatly also in the drive. The excess on the insurance policy is £800 and she has caused loads of damage to it, so I think we will lose the whole excess :( I also feel majorly stressed that having been so under confident about driving it, but having been so careful with it, I am nonetheless going to be handing it in with major bodywork damage. This happened this morning, and I am so tense that I have a shooting pain from the shoulder up to my ear which I am sure is just tension. To add insult to injury AFTER she did this, I heard her tell one of her friends that we had hired a big car and I didn't know how to drive it!

Big hugs Nicki, that sounds so stressful! Not really sure how the excess works with rentals but since it wasn't you who damaged it could the cost be covered by your Mum's car insurance, or is she paying it for you since she caused the damage?!

    Welcome cmills and mokba!

AF has left the building now so Operation NYC is go! I know that NYE is technically too early to have a hope of conceiving, but it sounds more fun that Operation Mid-January Conception! ;) I just have to hope that this cold clears off today, OH hasn't kissed me in a week because of my illnesses! :o

Oh yeah forgot to mention the whole weight-loss hopes for the new year! I'm considering doing the Idiot Proof diet as I did low carb a couple of years ago and lost about a stone (didn't have any more to lose really) and really liked it. I just have to get myself back in the mind-set and get organised to make it work for me again! I'm also thinking about taking up running but I'm quite nervous as I've never really *done* running before so no idea where to start really! :o

    Morning all :)
DH and I had a loooong heart to heart last night, after I did a review of our debt repayments. We've decided that if I'm not pg this month we'll go back to our original plan and wait til march/april to begin ttc again. :(

We were doing really well, but we've had a dreadful year with cars (one written off, one needing major repairs in the same month after cam belt went ) and other unexpected expenses which has put us back to where we started :(

If I am pg this month, we'll manage and it will all be ok, but since waiting a few months will mean being DF before I go back to work and we start paying nursery fees it's worth the wait.

Also gives me a few more months to get my BMI <30, only 12lb to go, and hopefully a bit lower still. Back to regular exercise regime today, going to gym with DH when he gets home from work. I'm off work til 5th and I want to do some exercise every day.

For anyone interested in starting running, look up the couch to 5k programme. I started a few years ago with the running club at my work, and went from not being able to run for 2 minutes at a time in January to running a 5 mile race in June without stopping (although I was last but one, and only beat an 84 year old lady who runs marathons! :o) I had to stop last year due to my back problem, but I'm hoping to get back out there this year and beat my time in this year's race.

If you have an iPod you can download a program called couch to 5k which is broken down into several parts and tells you when to walk and when to run to build it up gradually. I did it last year and found it really helpful to build it up without overdoing it.
  • Ive downloaded the app for that couch to 5k, I used to do parkrun on a saturday morning but havent ran for a good 6 months so thought that would help get me back on track.

    Welcome Mokba and cmills

Nicki sorry to hear about your car troubles. I'm not the most confident driver in the world either and I've had a few prangs in my time - some my fault, some not :(. In fact, the Friday before Christmas I was waiting in a queue of cars at the petrol station and the driver in front decided to reverse without checking his mirror first and backed straight into me . Luckily I drive an old car and there wasn't much damage so we managed to sort it out without involving insurance. Still a pain in the bum though.

I'm another one who tends to suffer from post Christmas blues. I'm fine once I'm back at work in the New Year and all the Christmas decorations are gone, but I don't like the bit inbetween Christmas and New Year :(. I sometimes make a list of all the positives so that I can focus on that and not dwell on the negative stuff. There are always more positives than negatives if you really think about it.

    Hugs to everyone in need.
