Replacement car key. Outrageous cost!

For info.
One key on 2010 Fiesta stolen in a handbag with address.
Cost of new key and programming second key to new one £199 Ford Main Dealer .
Cost of new locks £500!! Needed as thief knows address.
But £500, too much. So have to leave nothing in the car at home as thief can gain access.
Morals of story.
1) Get key insurance. Home and car policies will not cover. Try CPP credit card insurance as they cover car keys.
2) Leave license in car . I don't know of insurance that covers new locks, so avoid carrying address with keys.
PS Get house accidental damage as main policy does not cover non -accidental causes not listed.
OR..... get a blank key off ebay for £10 or less, Get it cut and program it yourself with the info in the cars handbook.
Lose a key erase that key and buy another new blank.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

How new? MK4 mondeo forum still say you can create new keys providing you have 2 original keys?
But some owners dont know the difference between a MK1 and a MK4 so you do have to double check

Hi. I bought a bora from an auction yesterday. It came with only one key. The remote does not work, only way to open the door is with key. The problem is that when the other doors are unlocked the alarm goes off. I have to start the engine to stop it. Its a big problem as I have little kids who keep getting frightened by the alarm.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. thanks.Content makes poor men rich; discontentment makes rich men poor. Benjamin Franklin0 -
Check the handbook for keyfob programming. You normally need to start the car within 20 seconds
or so of opening the door. The alarm shouldn't go off then.

you don't need to start the car to switch the alarm off just turn the key in the ignition to position II0

Hi can anyone give me any advice. I bought a Ford Ka registered november 2000 before Christmas with only one key that has a red rectangle on the top of a black plastic key, it is not central locking. I want to get another key but
a) dont have the key code
b) cant afford the prices being quoted.
The handbook also says I need to have 2 keys to code a new key.
The boot lock is very unreliable and frequently will not open, and from what I have read this may be due to wear on the current key, rather than anything wrong with the lock. I have read this thread and am now even more confused, should I be looking to replace the boot lock? all the locks or is it possible to get another key even without the code.
Thanks for any advice anyone may have...I am in Cambridgeshire.
