Hello I am new to this board. I have decided to lose weight and went to the doctors this morning. I am currently 91kg and want to get back down to 70kg - when I was happiest with myself. I don't know what that is in pounds. So I really just came on here for some encouragement and tips really. Looking forward to a slimmer me.........maybe.

I don't know what plan you are following, but if you are doing WW you don't have to go without that. I was just in Iceland, so looked at the can and the whole 398g tin worked out at 8 1/2 points, so you would be able to work that into your allowance.

8 1/2 points is quite a lot for one can:D

The plan is along the lines of WW but not....or SW....bit a both shall we say and cutting everything out that is not remotely needed;)

Seems to be working because I lost 8.5 lb in 4 weeks so chuffed but sometimes miss the good 'ol days!!:D

Honey28 you are right it is in the SW mag and it has 2 syns or 204 calories for 1/2 can....

My boys keep hassling me for the enchiladas/fajitas that are constantly advertised on the tele....each tortilla is 139 calories and for speed I bought the old el paso mild sauce to add to the fajitas 100gr....169 calories so will not be touching that tonight:D will just stick to what I have been doing a huge amount of veg with fish xxx

retired lady - hugs to you. It wasnt a pleasant experience and you didnt even have to tell us so well done for doing that. Try and use it as a positive experience thing - let this be the thing that keeps you motivated, any time you are struggling remember this. I hope you are feeling better about it today.

Thank you to everyone for your empathy and your kind words! :T :T

I do feel better about it today - I really think it helped just telling someone else about it - a problem shared and all that!

The experience will certainly help me stick to the eating plan - I never never NEVER  want to feel like that again!!

Thanks again my little cyber friends!!:j

i think everyone has been there at one point or another and it really isnt nice:rolleyes:im glad you are feeling more positive today marion i have 10 stone(ish) to lose and when i go out with friends i have to pick the chairs i can fit my ample posterior in :o and it is embarrassing and i somehow manage to laugh it off each time :o i find its also little comments from other people which most of the time arent intentionally nasty but i really take it to heart and feel awful. it feels great now that i have made a concious (sp) decision to do something about it now rather than wallow in self pity..the balls in my court now and only i can change the way i eat and make the connection between food and how i look/feel. i have now started my journey of looking after myself better and a weight has been lifted (pardon the pun :p ) from me. i`m now looking forward to shedding those pounds and seeing me emerge from the body i dont want anymore a bit like a butterfly to start my new life.:j:D

Now I'm hungry, have no cash on me to buy anything from the newsagent (probably a good thing coz it would be biscuits or chocolate!!) and am trying to fill up on cups of tea till it's time to go home. Shoulda made more for my lunch!! :o

Any way came on to ask for help... I loved and miss Iceland chicken in white sauce in a tin... have been told I can make low fat white sauce with fromage frais from scratch but have no idea how to make it.....I do eat a lot of fromage frais but like a yoghurt not to cook in it so could anyone help me to cook with it?

I did see Sainsburys perfectly balanced chicken in white sauce in a tin half a can 204 calories!! I would eat the whole tin though so put that back...

    Many thanks

Hope this helps, its what I make to do with chicken.

    2 tbsp cornflour
    1/2 pt skimmed milk
150g pot very low fat natural fromage frais
    1 tbsp dijon mustard
    salt and pepper

1 Blend the cornflour with a little of the milk. Pour the remaining milk into a pan, bring to the boil, then add cornflour mixture, stirring continuosly, and cook for 1 -2 minutes, until thick.

2 Remove from the heat and gradually beat in the fromage frais and mustard. Season well. reheat gently ( don' t boil or the fromage frais will curdle) and serve.

I grill some chicken whilst I'm making it, chop it and put it in as I'm reheating.

    Hope this helps you...
