Petrichor you sound just like me: I started off with a little weight gain in the run up to getting married which I wasn't worried about cos mostly I just got enhanced curves  but over the past two years steadily increased (save about 6 months of rowing in the middle) ... Yet as skirts have become tighter and jumpers shorter (leading to chilly bits of flesh around the side, which of course then act as essential blubber to keep me warm - can't win  ) I've still been sooo complacent!
Problem with me is that until I started this diet / joined this thread, my BMI was within the 'normal' band, so always had that in the back of my mind, regardless of the size of my tummy - the more fat I put on, the more muscle I lost, so my increase in weight didn't have that much to do with my increase in girth!
Now that I have managed to gain my most recent pound and tipped myself into the 'overweight' band with a BMI of 25.1 however, the complacency has well and truely gone! Spurred on by the likes of LL and MMP (I would say Suggs, but to be honest Suggs, your weight loss is so phenomenal and exercise so impressive, that at the moment it's too out there! But many many :T for your superhuman-like achievements!!!) I will become gazelle like, and not put my husbands back out should he want to carry me somewhere - I'm 23 and a newly-wed - I feel it is my right to get carried across the threshold at least once! Oh, and refind half my wardrobe
So saying that, thanks LL for including me in the chart - please put me down as +1lb    for Monday - who knows, maybe it'll make the non-movers feel better? (HTH!)
Lastly just wanted to include a note about fitness - just before I went back to work on Tues of last week went to the gym, and was totally shocked by how little I could do, and how unwell it made me! Even my previously strong legs had given up the ghost! For personal reasons (and a few two many post-Christmas parties) I haven't been able to get back for a proper workout, but almost every day I have run about a third of the way to work (a 15min walk) ... Today for the first time I noticed a big improvement - I was able to run further, (over half way) and didn't feel like crying which I usually do (I only run cos I'm running late, which happens every day lol - I HATE running!), and yesterday and today I have a lot more energy, and it wasn't quite so painful when the alarm went off! So just a note to say that even the tiniest bit of activity can make quite a dramatic difference - hoping to spur someone on...
PS great to hear about everyone's successes - seems most people who started last week have had some sort of weight loss :T Perfect reading for this naughty one!If you don't have anything nice (or constructive) to say... DON'T SAY IT!0 -
Hi
Can i join please?
I was dumped on new years day and it has given me a kick up the (big fat) bum, i'm hoping to go to a weightwatchers meeting tonight if my mum will babysit, I have been before but i was over a year ago.
Does anyone know how much it will cost?
I need to loose about 4 stone, it's gonna take forever!:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -
Morning All
Wow what a lot of new members and I have only been away for 1 night. Well done to Lois, Suggs etc on your great results I guess it will just spur the rest of us on.
Was not that good while being away, they had these mini cakes at the meeting and althought I resisted for 2 hours I did break down and had 5 of them
Another bad thing was that I had just got rid of all the chocolate in the house but my compnay gave me a Christmas Tuck Box. Guess what it is full of chocolate - really unfair but it is all nice expensive stuff so cannot bear to throw it out  .
On the positive side i Have just booked myself in for Pilates this morning first time back at the gym for over 6 weeks (yes Suggs it is bad but I was away for 3).
Will try to get back into some sort of rutine with the gym dispite my odd working days and hope for the best. Funny thing is I do feel quite good as I am tanned and by blod hair is even blonder from the South African Sun. Also dressing up in winter clothes makes the weight gain feel less bad. Not an excuse I know.

Hi Petrichor - you can subscribe to threads you've posted on so that you can find them easily. I've done it myself but I can't remember where you go to do it! If you click here it should help.I must face up to the fact that I am 9" too short :rotfl:
I always said that as well, to many laughs, as I'm a shade under 6 feet tallThe horrible truth is that I need to lose 30-35lbs. I knew that I had steadily been increasing in weight and despite promises to do something about it I just never seemed to get round to it, there was always next week!!
On the Debt Free Wannabe thread people talk about the 'lightbulb' moment when they realise that they have to do something about their debts. I believe weight loss is very similar. I got to the point where I was over 100 pound above my ideal weight before I had my lightbulb moment and started to seriously do something about it. You can lose 30-35lbs, but try not to think of the overall amount - break it down into manageable amounts by setting yourself mini targets, half a stone or a stone at a time. You can do it!Sorry I got a bit maudlin earlier but I feel better having got these things off my chest, it's true what they say about a problem shared etc. etc. I am now going to sort out what I need to change to get me further motivated.
Already you have been a great help and I intend to return the favour, bye for now. oops! sorry mean :coffee:
This thread is great - we've all got the same aim, and we can be honest with each other, sharing our lows as well as our highs, and it's surprised me how motivating it is. Welcome to the gang!

Hi to everyone new and good luck
I haven't weighed myself again yet as I'm sure I've lost nothing
I was naughty last night. I had to stay late at Uni unexpectedly and when I left it was an hour until the next train and me and OH were so hungry. So we went to bella italia. I had pizza (with rocket, sundried tomato and psocuitto). How bad is this? On a good note I haven't had any chocolate all week and that's amazing for me0
