Hi
I need to go to Swansea in next two weeks for a weekend as my inlaw is really ill I need cheapest ticket for 2 adults
thanks0 -
Consider splitting at Crewe or BirminghamPosts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I'm hoping to spend the weekend in Liverpool, travelling up on 3/4 and coming back on 5/4 or travelling up on 4/4 and coming back 7/4.
I've worked out that I can go from London to Birmingham, Birmingham to Runcorn and Runcorn to Liverpool for £16.90 each way. With the credit crunch, funds are tight and I was just wondering if anyone knows whether we can do better.
Any help would be MUCH appreciated.0 -
Hi all
Haeading up to murryfeild for the rugby league weekend in may and after a few days of searching still can't find a decent price, about £90 rtn is best. Can anyonehelp get it lower, not too fused about route or even mode of transport, I work in halewood, liverpool if that could be used instead as a starting point. most of the cost seems to be getting out of wales!
Thanks all0 -
hi, and many thanks to those who take the time to answer posts like mine:beer:
I am thinking of travelling up to Scotland in the Easter hols, around the 11th April to come back around the 18th. I have a price of £90 return for Newcastle to Forres (with a family railcard). Please does anyone know of any split ticketing routes, and is it best to go via Edinburgh or Aberdeen? Is it cheeper on the weekend than weekdays?
Many thanks in advance, and my head is spinning with the amount of train sites i am looking at!!0 -

How many people? And what sort of ticket is the £90 return? Anytime? Off peak? Advance?
It's always easier to respond with sufficient info up front - less combinations to think of.0 -

oops, sorry! Myself, 12 yr old and 2 yr old -was advised to pay for seat for 2yr old, as it will be a very long journey if she has to sit on my lap the whole way!
The £90 return was an 'off peak return'. Am very flexible over times/days around the dates given - i am assuming that off peak will be cheaper?0 -
Thanks for your advice which I have picked up from reading previous messages and found the best route to Cardiff from London - split ticket at Swindon. This is for my son to attend an open day at Cardiff University.
BUT just a quick silly question - how do we buy the tickets - do we do it all on line before the trip and get them sent to us?
What is best medium to buy them from - National Rail ?
I believe that others charge?
I am also going to get him a young persons railcard to reduce costs by 1/3 as advised as he will be making other trips this year.

You can buy them online, but not from National Rail, who don't sell tickets. Any train operating company will sell them to you with no fee. thetrainline and raileasy and qjump charge.
You can also buy them at the station - for off peak and anytime tickets on the day or in advance, for advance tickets in advance only.0 -
Hi im looking for a return from Southampton to Sheffield, the best deal i can find is £42.30 for 2 singles. I heard there are cheaper tickets if I dont go through london, but I cant find them. If anyone knows any deals itll be a great help, thanks !0
