Is there any ways to split the tickets or is £40ish going to be the cheapest I can get?
That depends how much you're prepared to compromise on speed. You can split the journey at Crewe, and if you agree to travel on London Midland services CRE-EUS you can go for £27.15 return (=£13.95PRE-CRErtn+£13.20CRE-EUSrtn) - click on the 'show slower journeys' on the nxec site and select the 'LM only' boxes. To leave London after 6pm, however, you'll have to travel via Birmingham, which adds even more time to the journey. Playing around with the system means you can replace the £13.20 ticket with a £6.60 advance LM CRE-EUS and a £9.90 Virgin advance EUS-CRE, though it's up to you to decide whether you're prepared to faff around this much just to save a tenner.0 -

Split your ticket at Nottingham.
Get Offpeak Day Returns:
Peterborough-Nottingham £18
Nottingham-Oldham £18
Total therefore is £36 but there is no Groupsave on these fares. This is a massive saving because the cheapest through fare is £69. You are quite within your rights to purchase both tickets at Peterborough before you begin your journey then you can stay on the train right through from Peterborough to Manchester.0 -
Hello
My mum is travelling to Kings Lynn from Nottingham on 11th April, returning on 16th April (she is going to Hunstanton but getting picked up at Kings Lynn, so if Hunstanton is cheaper that will do). She is over 60 and has a half price travelcard to local stations (going to Grantham is half price). One return ticket to Kings Lynn is about £39. Could anyone help me get it any cheaper? Had a look with a couple of stations but is usually the same or more.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks.0 -

EMT does offer Groupsave fares. However, you would need to travel on EMT for the entire journey on the ticket. So if you are travelling from Peterborough to Manchester on the EMT service, you should buy Peterborough - Nottingham, Nottingham - Manchester (both with groupsave) and then a normal (full-fare off peak day return) ticket from Manchester to Oldham.
Hope this helps!0 -
Singles are £55 London-Castle cary in June.
I got the following split-ticket for £32:
London-Newbury / Newbury - Castle Cary0 -
"Cheapest" available single via Virgin, Trainline or others is the 1920 from Bhm New Street arriving Glasgow Central 2317 at £35.50
The same train but with split at Carlisle (ARR 2201 DEP 2203) costs £25.00 (components £20.50 & £4.50). An outrageous 30% saving.0 -

Are you saying this for a specific date or generically? If the former, you may wish to say when it is and why this is particularly relevant. If the latter, you'll find that the cheapest fare BHM-GLC is actually £1, available on most weekdays by booking through the megatrain website.0 -
What is the cheapest ticket for London-Manchester 6th July then Manchester-Glasgow 8th July? Megatrain doesn't give me train options? My phone won't register on Virgin Trains Mobitix either annoyingly.0

Megatrain won't give you options because MAN-GLC is not a Virgin route, it's run by FirstTranspennineExpress. Also perhaps because it's too far off and advance tickets haven't been released yet - no booking site is currently offering them for those dates on those routes. Try again in a few weeks.0
