Hi folks,
Want to get a train from Stirling to Birmingham on 30/05/08 returning 01/06/08.
I'll be changing at Edinburgh or Glasgow, any splits I should consider to reduce the cost. Or any other tips?
Currently about £196 for 2 people return, which seems very high, flights EDI to Birmingham are £100.
Main tip is WAIT.
The cheap rail fares haven't been released yet

Forget anything you are told about '12 weeks'. It ain't so.0 -
This has been asked before but i couldnt see an answer. The cheapest i can find is £60 and i was hoping to pay less than that. If you can help i would be really grateful!!

It can be done for £13 each way using advance purchase singles - looking a few weeks ahead that seems achievable on some trains - and more availability at slightly higher prices.0 -

Wellingborough to London St. Pancras - 3 or more persons travelling buy a GROUPSAVE from Wellingborough to Bedford then Bedford to St. Pancras, ensuring that the train you select actually stops at Bedford. Try it!0

I need to get from Leeds to Salisbury
Or from Brighton to Edinburgh/Glasgow
Ona student budget....ive been experimenting, but im not good at this game!0 -
In each case split at London and get a young persons railcard - but without date & time of travel no-one can give you the costs0

If travelling Leeds to London (may well work on other routes on the National Express/old GNER into London) then do Leeds to Peterborough, Peterborough to London- on a standard open ticket it's 50 quid cheaper0

Anyone know where i could split this journey? Its looking around £60 return at the moment which is stretching me a bit getting to bristol by 11:15 and leaving Bristol after 16:40. Ive done some experimenting but its just resulted in me getting very confused and findiing far more expensive tickets... Im afraid I only just found out for certain im going so its next wednesday so finding an early ticket isnt exactly an option.0
