Culd someone help me with getting a cheap return
Glasgow - Manchester
Outbound: 14 March (must be after 2pm)
Retunr: 16 March (flexible, but would like to be in Glasgow between 7pm and 9m)
Well if you are not prepared even to try to look it up on a rail website (as suggested to you in the other thread where you have asked this question) then your nearest staffed rail station is the best place to start.0 -
Southend to London Return is about £14, plus the cost of London to Newcastle which will work out about £80 at this late date via the National Express East Coast Websiteclarelouise25 wrote: »Hi I'm wondering if someone can help me find the cheapest return for Southend (any station) to Newcastle?I dont mind how many times it is split, the cheaper the better! I can leave anytime on 8th February and return either anytime on 10th february or early 11th feb. Thanks in advance!0 -

any recommendations for ticket splitting Sheffield - London please ?

I'm hoping to do a day retrun on 3rd or 4th March, best prices I've found (at suitable-ish times) is £52 for 3 adults + 1 child on family rail card, as singles.
any tips very much appreciated - thanks!0 -

Bedford, possibly. Haven't looked up but the prices south of Bedford are suburban rather than long distance fares.
But if you've got advance purchase singles anyway you are unlikely to do any better - splitting is generally done to reduce the price of full fare tickets.
And that does look cheap for 3 adults.
You could also look at megatrain - but they have no child fares so it would be 4 adults. You can get back for £1 each on 4th March if you don't mind a late return.0 -
Started work in Reading. Car is not an option - done enough driving on the M6. Looked at trains and it seemed silly - a return, changing at Stafford was coming out at £112!
However my lovely wife did some split tickets, guess what. The same trains work out like this:
7:14 Warrington to Stafford - £13.90 for a single or £17.10 for an open return.
7:54 Stafford to Reading - £33.50 for a single or £51.30 for an open return.
Cost now £68.40, a saving of £43.60!0 -
I've split Manchester to Ipswich a few rimes and never failed to make amazing savings - at Christmas I changed at Doncaster and reduced the quoted single fare from £64.00 to £24.00. It seems anything coming from a Northern or Arriva Transpenine train to Anglia is a lot cheaper if you split in Yorkshire.Holiday of a lifetime - December 2010
Saved: £1540.00! :beer:0 -

Plus £4 for the Tube fare
Thanks. I went for the London option on the way out. I've got an Oyster card so the tube bit will only be £1.50.
Very gutted as I've just realised I think I could have got it half price by going through South West Trains on Pigsback. I assumed it would only work on their routes but you can choose all routes.:(0 -
thanks very much , good to know I'd found a good deal, - I understood the concept of splitting better now - good to be informed - tav much
