Many thanks Alan. I'm travelling out on 26 June and returning on 29 June and pretty flexible on time. So if my calculations are right, I should try for the outward singles tomorrow and the return singles on Sunday.0

You can try - but don't be alarmed if they don't appear for a while - particularly the Sunday journey. 12 weeks is the absolute maximum - it can be a lot later before they come out. Nat Exp East Coast are better than most.
Currently it's 20 June for Mon-Fri and 15 June for Sundays0 -

Regarding York to London journey. I am trying to book tickets for 22nd June and just called the helpline.
The reason they haven't released any cheap tickets on the weekends in June is that there may be engineering works on this line during June and they are holding back waiting for confirmation.
The person on the phone told me that I should keep looking and that they are usually released on Thursdays?
Good luck!

Haven't tried purchasing it yet, but it looks like a Cambridge-Coventry return ticket can be split at Milton Keynes (assuming a Friday outgoing and Sunday return) and save £6.70 with a Network Card:
- Cambridge-Coventry return (via London) normally £54.00
- Cambridge-Milton Keynes w/Network Card: £31.70
- Milton Keynes-Coventry: £15.60

You can save a massive 60p on that MK - Cov fare by travelling on non-Virgin services via Northampton!!
And try the X5 bus from Cambridge to Milton Keynes - 2hrs 10 mins, every half hour in the day. It stops at MK station. £10 return I think but don't quote me. Doubt if it's any slower than going via London.0 -
I've just managed to save myself £8.20 on some tickets by split ticketing. Lincoln to Manchester.
Lincoln -> Sheffield (Standard Day Return) = £13.90.
Sheffield -> Manchester = £4.00.
Manchester -> Sheffield = £6.50.
Total: £24.40
Cost of ticket without split ticketing: £32.60

I saved £45 by buying 2 single train fares from Bradford to Bristol rather than a full fare. Bradford to Bristol was £69. but Bradford to Manchester Victoria was £8.30 and Manchester Piccadilly to Bristol was £15 plus a metro fare of 70p.
So it cost me £24 saving £45.
I looked up the fares on the routes though and all the stations stopped at Leeds but not at Manchester, but luckily I knew about Manchester so looked that up anyway.
Noticed after I had paid, I could have done it it even cheaper by £2 on Newport to Bristol as at that time it was off peak.
At times I have managed to get a full fare for £16 but for some reason there was nothing for May or June 2008.0 -
Please can you help?
I need to go from Plymouth to Ulverston (either via crewe, manchester, birmingham new st, or Preston - arrgggh!) as these seem to be the best stations for splitting tickets.
Theres so many options I'm just pulling my heair out! lol!
Megatrain, only seem to be offereing busses through some of these connections, which aren't any good really.
Has anyone figured out a good way to get from the South West to the Northwest?
many thanks, in advance:D0 -
