Hi can anyone help me please. Trying to get a return journey Blackpool to Bournemouth. I've tried splitting the journey at Birmingham, travelling via Manc and going via London but haven't been able to reduce the fare below 99.80 so far. Not due to travel until the end of July, any advice would be great. Many thanks.0

Need dates as especially during school holidays the prices can vary immensely depending on which days you travel0

Hi, travelling blackpool to Bournemouth Thurs 31 July and returning Tues 05 Aug. Thanks.0

Working backwards
Birmingham to Bournemouth - £10.50, dep 17:03, arr 20:15 - earlier trains for £2 or £4 more
Manchester to Birmingham - £5.50 on all trains after 10:00am
Blackpool to Manchester - £12.20, on all trains after 9:00am
Reverse should be similar
Total cost £28.20 Blackpool to Bournemouth0 -
Had to go London - Coventry the other day. Saver return £36, which I thought far too much.
So checked Network railcard map, bought day return London - Northampton with railcard, £14.05, then cheap day return Northampton - Coventry, £7.
Total cost £21, fully flexible.
2 cheap singles cost £14 e/w +£28 inflexible
Saver return £36.
Saved £150 -
You've actually saved only £2. A cheap day return London to Coventry via Northampton (Silverlink trains, or whatever they are called now, only) is £23, no railcard needed. There's also a saver this way at around £25.
Still not to be sneezed at.0 -
Usually you get your ticket stamped/punched whilst on board. However if you're splitting and only get one ticket stamped (i.e. show the ticket inspector the ticket for that part of the journey, if the train is particularly busy/large he'd be unlikely to remember where you got on/where you are getting off), then you may be able to claim for a refund.
Most train companies will not refund an outbound ticket without a return ticket, however you should be able to get a refund on the return ticket and obviously if you have both then you'll get a full refund.
Think this might not be legal though so I wouldn't recommend it, it's just an observation of the system.0 -

You could also try going via Leamington
Coventry - Leamington return £4.10
Leamington - London off peak return £16.50
Total: £20.600
