Hi, Does anyone have any suggestions about cheap tickets from Newton Abbot to Oxford? I'm looking to travel up on a Thursday and travel back on a Monday in February. The tickets arn't available yet but I was wondering if anyone has any good ideas about where to split the tickets.
National Express is a good price but it takes over 7 hrs!!!!
Thanks for any help.

Is this thread for reporting split ticketing successes? I guess not, it seems to be for requests! In which case, the easiest way to find places to split is to use a website such as East Coast, LM, Southern or Red Spotted Hanky, they all use WebTIS, and allow you to click an info button on the itinerary of your choice, which then lets you expand the times to show the calling points of the trains in your chosen itinerary.
All the places where the train calls are potential places to split - but if making a return, make sure the train calls at the place(s) where you split on the way back!
I am more inclined to provide assistance where people have done this, and got some research done and have further questions to ask, rather than wanting others to do this research for them.loopylass09 wrote: »Hi, Does anyone have any suggestions about cheap tickets from Newton Abbot to Oxford? A through Advance fare will be best, but if you must split, you could try splitting at either Reading or Didcot Parkway.
Lovely - thanks for your help. I had done quite a bit of research and looked into splitting at Reading and Didcot (and Bristol and Taunton) but wanted to check I hadn't missed any other options. Sorry if I asked in the wrong place, thanks for helping x0 -
Hi,
Could anyone help me get from Bristol to Leeds (26th or 27th Jan) and back (30th) by train for less than £30? I've tried Cheltenham-Birmingham-Chesterfield and that's about £50 with a railcard.
Thanks0 -

Assuming railcard is a 16-25 one then £37.60 best I can do.
Bristol TM to Manchester Pic Advance single £16.50 via Abergavenny (Nice route but slower) Advance single then a Manchester Pic to Leeds Advance single £4.60 do the reverse for the way back but the fare from Manchester Pic to Bristol TM is £11.90
To get the Abergavenny option use advance options or more options then 'Via' and add Abergavenny. Also if your combine Advance singles then make sure you leave the correct connection time between tickets, 10mins for Manchester or get a no hassle Off Peak Return Manchester to Leeds for an extra £2ish.Whoa! Well advance singles look easily obtainable at £29 each way for the whole journey so that's £2 shaved off your price. Where did you get it from?
You could look at Megatrain to see if the times/fares help - it will certainly get you to London and back for cheap but will leave you with an expensive fare (no advances) London to Stansted and back
You could get the Terravision bus (£14 return online) from Victoria or Liverpool Street to Stansted and back if that helps.
Add cross London tickets - bus or tube - to that.
Don't think you will do much better - £58 is less than half the full fare to start with.0 -

Depending on exact times of travel, you may be able to shave a few more pounds off...
Off Peak Return Poole to Southampton Central = £25.10.
Advance Singles from Southampton Central to Victoria can be had from £4.50 each way on your dates using Southern Trains only. Very much depends on time of travel, and it takes longer going that way. To get those fares you must book via Southern's website.
Use Terravision from Victoria to Stansted at £14 return.
So could be under £50.0 -
Advance single a whopping £136, with 2 train changes at Crewe and Cardiff Central. Split the ticket at the stations i`m changing trains at anyway(!) £57.0
