Splitting at Exeter St Davids will save you £8.00 per week.
An Off Peak Return from Bodmin Parkway to Exeter St D is £24.00, as is one from Exeter StD to Bristol TM.
Greater Savings can be made if you are able to commit to specific trains and can buy ahead.
For example, using exactly the same outward train (09:03 from Bodmin) an Advance Single from Bodmin to Exeter StD on Mon 7 Nov is £4.00. And an Advance Single from Exeter StD to Bristol TM on the same day, and the same train, is also £4.00.
The return may be slightly more... I'll leave you to check.
Info from Southern Railways website.
Also, are you under 26?
Or classified as a full time student?
If so consider a 16-25 railcard.
That will knock a third off most of those fares.
Thanks for that i will look into the advance tickets. I am 29 but i am classed as a full time student.i will looking into the rail card thanks again0 -

The railcard will save you over £18 per week on your current weekly ticketing.
So for an outlay of £28, you'll recover that cost and more after two weeks.
From the railcard website...If you're over 26 and in full-time education, you'll need:- To prove that you're studying full-time at a recognised school/college
- To attend for over 15 hours a week, at least 20 weeks a year
- To show an ISIC card (International Student Identity Card), NUS card featuring the ISIC logo or complete and certify the 'Mature students only' section of the application form,. This form needs to be certified by the establishment where you are studying

Hi all,
Haven't posted here for ages, hoping someone can help....
Trying to find any split ticketing from Burton (or Lichfield) to Bournemouth.
Cheapest fare so far is around £44 but takes me into London and out via the tube to Waterloo!!
Anyone got any ideas on splitting and avoiding the big smoke??
I've tried a few options but to no avail.
Help!
Travel dates are first/second week October midweek and not too fussy on travel times - daytimes are good!!0 -
Hi people. I'm making a journey from Haverfordwest to London Paddington quite regulary and the return ticket is usually about £80.
Does anyone know how i can make the journey cheaper or a possible 'split route'?0 -

You could try the train from Haverfordwest to Cardiff £25.70 Off Peak Return then Megabus Cardiff to London £3 each way so total return for £31.70
But don't know how far Cardiff Bus station (Kingsway Fford y Brenin) is from the Central railway station, could be a problem? Google Maps might help.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -

That is cheap, buy before they sell out. I doubt you will get it anything near as cheap as that with split ticketing. If you don't like the underground then either walk from London Euston to Waterloo or get a Oyster card and use the bus.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -

Available on all except the 06:15 departure from Haverfordwest.
More restrictive on the return leg.0 -

Hi,
Two of us are going to a friends wedding reception in the (evening) in Penzance from London on Saturday the 10th of December and will travel back on Monday the 12th.
I have tried splitting at different places, but can't get it very much cheaper than £60 each return.
Can anyone do any better please? We are flexible with timings, as long as we arrive by about 6pm on the 10th.
ThanksLife is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body,
but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ..... wow what a Ride!0 -

Advance Singles between London (either Paddington or Waterloo) and Exeter St Davids are available at around £12 - £13 each way.
Advance Singles at £6.00 each are plentiful between Exeter St D and Penzance.
So that return trip could be £36 each.
Also consider using Megatrain between Waterloo and Exeter St D.
Unfortunately Megatrain have not released tickets for your dates yet, but looking at Friday 11 Nov and Monday 14 Nov there are tickets from London Waterloo to Exeter St D for £6.00 each way.
That gets the return fare for one person down to £24.00 (plus 50p booking fee on Megatrain).0
