    One would think that would work, but unfortunately;
    London to Salisbury Off Peak Day Single with network card £21.60
    Salisbury to Bristol TM Off Peak Day Single £18.40
    Total £40

    Bloody hell..

    Ok, so travelling short is not allowed:-

    Crewe 7:57 to Euston 9:38, weekday about a month in advance is £45.

    But Wilmslow to Euston, arriving at the same time is £32.50.

    The Wilmslow to Euston, is one train to Crewe, then change and join the very same train as the £45 ticket.

    Ok, so what if you purchased a Crewe to "nearest/cheapest station" for £2 or so, entered Crewe Station on that and then joined the Crewe to Euston Train? Discarding the Crewe to "Wherever" ticket.

    What if you were actually going from elsewhere, say Warrington, and booked a Warrington to Crewe ticket and then joined the Crewe to Euston train?

    :cool:

    Well you are breaking the T&C of the ticket. The question is will you get caught.

    First what if - there's very small risk that you might be watched at Crewe joining a fast train to London with only a ticket to wherever local

    Second what if - a rather greater risk that an alert ticket inspector might notice what you were doing

    And a further risk that the train from Wilmslow that you were supposed to be on runs late and misses the connection that you are actually on. How did you get there?

    If it's an Advance ticket and it sounds like it is, then the rules state that travelling short, break of journey or resuming a journey is not allowed.

    It's your risk alone, if you try what you stated you may get away with it and there's a good chance that you will, but if it goes wrong it's a new full price Single ticket. Oh by the way there's no barriers at Crewe and that's all I'm going to say on this subject.

    Hi,
    Would anyone be able to help me find the cheapest way to go to Stoke-On-Trent from London on Sunday 26th June?

    I think trains arent running from Stoke-on-Trent to Stafford so a train to Stoke-on-Trent will be fine. I would like to get there by midday and make sure I get back to London before the tube shuts down so I am thinking of leaving Stafford/Stoke around 8/9pm.

    I have been trying all different ways but the cheapest I can find is £39.50. Can anyone find anything cheaper than this? I would really appreciate it!!

    Thanks very much!

    Can you arrive at Stafford at 12:58?
    If so, how about a Super Off Peak Return at £18.00.
    Could leave at 20:16 to arrive at Euston at 23:14.
    Via London Midland Trains only.
    LM do sometimes have trouble finding staff to work weekends though.

    You can try going by London Midland, takes a bit longer and I can't get you to London for Midday, but it's cheaper and there's no engineering works for them that day;

    London to Stoke on Trent dep 10:23 arr 13:19
    Stoke on Trent to London dep 19:57 arr 23:14
    Super Off Peak Return £22.50 London Midland trains Only

    To find this fare on the East Coast website, enter a search 'London to Stoke on Trent' once got your results, then 'select route' and tick 'London Midland only' and update.
