any resources for finding whole ticket for this route as i seam to find the expensive tickets?
Please please please more detail - are you after a one way ticket, a day return or a longer period return. And rough time of day.
http://uk.megabus.com/Default.aspx might help if you don't already know about it - it's train as well as bus0 -
Not a split ticket route but does anyone know what happens if you split ticket and then one of the trains is cancelled/delayed?
What is the cover?
Note that you must allow, at an absolute minimum, the minimum interchange time when changing trains, otherwise clearly it cannot be considered one journey.
If someone is charged in such circumstances and has allowed the minimum interchange time, and has been issued with an Unpaid fare notice, then post on that forum and I can say that the chances of us getting the unpaid fare notice quashed should be very high indeed. Though I obviously cannot guarantee success.0 -
Looking to travel from Leeds to London on the 4th of June 2011, no rail card, single passenger, prefer 1st class. Need to be in London by 10am and leaving around 8pm.
Network rail is quoting £108 return. I'm happy to book advanced tickets as there are no changes to be made and I'm pretty sure I can make scheduled trains.
My current split
07:05 LDS - KGX split at GRA = £45.50
20:30 KGX - LDS split at GRA = £45.50
Total £91.00
Could I do better?
ETA: For comparison I also did the std fare - £73 return or £71 return split at GRA0 -
You can knock 10% off those advance tickets by booking on the East Coast site0

Looking to travel Bristol- Blackpool end of Oct departing on a friday(am) returning sunday (am) i know its early, i checked advanced fares for a rough guide (£89.10) Ouch!!! Also had a look at split ticketing ( birmingham. preston. london) seemed to come out more expensive.
Any way to get the price down i could really do without driving!!.
Many thanks in Advance.0 -

Yes, you are a bit early and unfortunately Bristol to Blackpool is a bit of a carp route for advance tickets, but when the advance tickets are released, try using 'more options' in your website search engine I use East Coast and;
'via Manchester Piccadilly' - advance singles from £22.50
Or try this;
Bristol TM to Newport SW Anytime Return £16 or use advance singles from £3 each way if you get your timings right.
Newport SW to Blackpool N 'avoid Warrington BQ' advance single from £18 each way.
or try this;
Bristol TM to Runcorn East 'avoid Crewe' Advance singles from £17 each way.
Runcorn East to Blackpool Anytime £14.60
With the 3 Advance ticket options you need to follow the booking itinerary to the letter and don't wander off route.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -
Does anybody have any ideas as to a split ticket route for this journey and back, either same day or next day.
Thanks0 -

Thanks
Couldn't get it cheaper going via St Pancas but via Kings Cross there's a difference for a day return; (leaving after 09:30)
Iver to Potters Bar Off Peak Day Return £15.80
Potters Bar to Peterborough Off Peak Day Return £17
Peterborough to Stamford £7 or Oakham £10.10 Off Peak Day Return
So Total return Stamford £39.80 or Oakham £42.90 your trains must call at the split points but most First Capital Connect trains which call at Potters Bar then carry on to Peterborough, so if you get the right train you can just stay on it till Peterborough.Whoa! Split at Reading.
Example (OP day returns):
Salisbury - Maidenhead £24.20
Salisbury - Reading £14.80
Reading - Maidenhead £5.30.
Gives a saving of £4.10.0 -
