Hi, can anybody help me please find a cheap ticket to leeds on 25th Feb from London? I just need it one-way and it has to leave after 5pm (7pm at the lastest as I am travelling with daughter). The cheapest I can find is close to £100. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you
There's a 18:15 departure from St Pancras with Advance Singles available at £45.00. Arr Leeds 22:12.

Or if you can depart as late as 19:30, Advance Single = £29.00. Arr Leeds 23:38.
    Again from St Pancras.

Those fares are for one adult.

Remember, with Advance Singles you must travel on the booked train.

    Info from East Coast Trains.
  • Cardiff to Manchester return. Adult. No railcard (though I am under 25 so would get one if worth it). I want to visit my mate in May. Leaving on a Friday around half 4 from Cardiff. And then returning back leaving Manchester on the Sunday between noon and 4.

But searching the thread there were no obvious stations to split at. Don't worry about doing the searching and comparing, just wondering the best ones and I'll put the effort in.
    Thanks.
  • Friday 13th May

    Cardiff Central to Manchester Piccadilly

    16:20, 17:20, 18:20 departures are £13 (£8.60 with railcard)

    Sunday 15th May

    Manchester Piccaddilly to Cardiff Central

Every train at XX:30 are £13 (£8.60 with railcard)

We don't know which dates you are planning to travel, but using 25/26 March as an example...

On Friday, Advance Singles are available on the 20:00 from Paddington for £17.50.

On Sunday, Advance Singles are available on the 18:00 from Paddington for £12.50.

So it can be done for £30.00 return on those dates.

    Edited to add...
Having reread your post, if you are planning to travel this weekend, i.e. leaving tomorrow, then you have really left it too late for getting cheap tickets.

You've left it far too late (assuming it's this Friday) for any cheaper fares and splitting only makes it worse as far as I can see.

Try National Express and Megabus - I think the latter serve Bristol.

I'd be really grateful for some help getting the best possible price for a special treat I'm planning, first class for three adults (one of whom has a young persons railcard) to travel to Glasgow as cheaply as possible. I know first class will be much dearer than standard but need to be able to reserve comfotable seats as my dh has been unwell recently.

It is important to do this with as few changes of train as possible (preferably not more than 2 at the most) but split ticketing where we stay on the same train is fine. ;)

Our nearest station is Waterbeach (Cambridgeshire) but we could easily get a lift to/from Cambridge, Ely or possibly Peterborough if that would help.

I have booked a holiday cottage on the Scottish west coast between Oban and Fort William. If we could get a train to there cheaply as well that would be marvelous although if not, I will hire a care and drive from Glasgow.

We are going on Saturday 2nd April (hope to be in Glasgow by 2pm-ish) and returning Saturday 9th April (hope to leave Glasgow some time after 3pm-ish).

The cheapest I have found so far is £268 for the three of us going from Ely to Glasgow (via Peterborough) and returning Glasgow to Cambridge (via Stevenage). If anyone can beat this I'd be over the moon!

Given that you have cheap advance tickets then the likelihood of being able to better them by split ticketing is approaching zero.

It's less than one third of the normal price

Only thing to say that if those prices are not from the East Coast site, you may be able to get a discount by booking there - not sure precisely which tickets are eligible.

Can anyone please help me find me a better price than £25 for a return from Cardiff to Haverfordwest?
Leaving Cardiff after 10:30am on Wed 2nd March
Return to arrive back at Cardiff for 7.00pm-ish on Mon 7th March.

Even with spliting best I seem to find is 'standard' return.

Nope - can't see any better. That £25 is the same to anywhere west of Carmarthen

If you are over 55 you can do it for £15 - less £2 with a railcard - with club55
