any good points along the way to split london to leeds??? have tried all combinations of various yorkshire based megabus destinations with no luck...

Try Peterborough and Doncaster.

An example is
Leeds-London
Standard Anytime Return £239
Standard Off Peak Return £157
Standard Super Off Peak Return £88.60

Leeds-Doncaster
Standard Anytime Day Return £12.50
Standard Off Peak Return £21
Standard Super Off Peak Return £19.70

Doncaster-London
Standard Anytime Return £179 (via East Coast Only)
Standard Off Peak Return £133.90
Standard Super Off Peak Return £65 (via East Coast Only)

So as long as your train calls at Doncaster you can save
Anytime Return £39 (more if day return)
Off Peak return £2.10 (more if day return or travel time don-lds)
Super Off Peak Return £3.90 (more if day returns).

If you aren't bothered about changing trains you can buy cheaper tickets to Doncaster with Hull Trains or Grand Central,
or Change at Wakefield Kirkgate travel by Grand Central and Northern Rail.
London-Wakefield Off Peak Return (via Grand Central Only) £67 (valid on all 3 services London-Wake Kirkgate)
Wakefield-Leeds Off Peak Day Return £3.60
Total via this route £70.60

If travelling in February Grand Central are doing an offer of Bradford/Halifax/Brighouse/Wakefield Kirkgate/Pontefract-London £25 return (must return before 01 Mar exc), this is available to buy on the train.

Why go to all that hassle for Leeds-London - an off peak return ticket for tomorrow is £88.60 and you can get one ways as low as £28.50

They haven't stated that advance tickets are an option, they asked for splitting points which usually suggests buy on the day tickets, there are very few advance tickets that will be cheaper by splitting (altho there will be some).
I gave info for the original question.

If info is needed for advance tickets we need to know dates, times railcards etc... or else the fare we give back won't be correct

There's Megabusplus, which is a train from St Pancras to East Midlands Parkway station, then Megabus coach from there to various locations in Yorkshire including Bradford - specifically Mayo Avenue, which is on the outskirts of Bradford just off the end of the M606. You could then get a bus or walk into central Bradford (a couple of miles), then a bus or local train into Leeds.

(For instance, a FirstDay West Yorkshire pass at £4.30 would allow you to travel on all First buses in WY, so that'd get you into central Bradford and then on to Leeds - various other WY Metro day passes are available which allow you to travel in WY on the buses of any company, or on all buses and also on the trains.)

I was looking to arrive in Leeds around 12 or half 12ish on 2nd april. back the next day afternoon some time.

to be honest, having looked around I don't think I'm going to get cheaper than the £22 singles each way I found. but definitely willing to be proven wrong!

Normal quoted price for this trip on a Thursday is £137 down to £125 using two singles and a peak morning train. Using exactly the same trains but splitting I achieved £58.80! Even off peak - no good for my arrival - was £76.70. Fantastic. A great tip from Martin.:money::D

Hi, can anybody help me please find a cheap ticket to leeds on 25th Feb from London? I just need it one-way and it has to leave after 5pm (7pm at the lastest as I am travelling with daughter). The cheapest I can find is close to £100. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you
