A fully flexible Anytime Day Single is £43.

Interestingly, an Off Peak Return (valid on all trains that day) is only £42.20.

An Advance Single leaving Seamer at 09:25 is £20.50.

Splitting at York, using exactly the same train, seperate Advance Singles would cost £6.50 and £11.50. Total = £18.00.

You could try splitting at other stopping points...
    Malton, Leeds, Dewsbury and Huddersfield.

Wow...thank you so much....:D One silly question: If I were to book this ticket "0747-1110-£14.50 advance single - change at Stafford 0953-1009 - London Midland"...does it mean that I have to get off at stafford and board a different train??:o

27/2 Manchester Pic to London Euston 08:20 or 09:20 Advance single £22.40
28/2 London Euston to Manchester Pic lots of trains from 10:40 to 13:40 Advance single £31

So total return £53.40 2x adults with 16-25 railcard, children under 5 travel free with Virgin trains

If you have a compatible mobile phone, then for the return journey you could try a Mobitix ticket which have tickets from £11 for 2 on the 28 Feb which brings the price down to £33.40 return. Shame they don't do tickets for the Sunday would be a lot cheaper for you.

  • I've got to make quite a few journeys from Guildford to Newcastle to visit my increasingly ailing mother, and would appreciate if anyone has any hints on splitting tickets. Route is Guildford to Waterloo, then Kings Cross to Newcastle. Many thanks
