I need to get from Cardiff Central to Manchester Airport on the afternoon/evening of the 17th December, earliest I can depart is probably 1600. (one way journey, 16-25 railcard). At the moment I've considered going into Birmingham, hopping to Wolverhampton and going from there, but it's still coming out at £25 plus. I know it wouldn't be dirt cheap but every little helps, right?
Cardiff to Birmingham Advance Single with railcard = £11.90.
Birmingham to Manchester Airport Advance Single with railcard = £10.25.0 -

Hi Moneysavers
This is my first post and first attempt at split ticketing so hoping I'm doing it right.
Out on 30/12 return on 01/01
Return from Bham to Edinburgh was £203 (for 2 adults)
Splitting at Warrington and again at Lancaster gets this down to £196 (again for 2 adults)
I was hoping for a bigger saving but still every bit helps.
Slightly cheaper than flying but ends up a fair bit cheaper since we wont need to get to or from either airport now0 -

Preston would be the best place to split;
Liverpool LS to Preston Anytime return £9.05 (after 10:00 Railcard Restriction)
Preston to Edinburgh Waverley advance single £5.60 (x2 return = £11.2)
So total return = £20.25 with 16-25 RC you can get direct advance tickets for £9.25 each way but there are far and few between.
Also First Transpennine haven't released their advance tickets for the 20th yet, just up to the 19th, but should be this week (Today?/Friday?)
