Takes you to Waterloo, not Paddington, and takes longer as it stops at many places.0 -

Finally found a split ticket route for Manchester to Leicester / Leicester to Manchester.
With two singles for Manchester - Nottingham and then Derby - Leicester you can cut the price from £38 to £27
Although there's direct trains from Manchester to Nottingham, going via Sheffield and Derby is a legitimate route, and is the same as the first 2/3 of Man - Lei.0 -
Any good split routes for Cambridge to Brighton? 2 adults each with YP Railcard. I'm only finding £58 returns. Not travelling until October but am looking at prices at the moment, would be a Saturday returning on Sunday.0

Possibly London. Southern do London/Brighton singles starting at £3 each without a railcard
Remember that £58 return is total, for both of you, so not overly expensive0 -
London - Lake District (Windermere)
I am following my family up to the Lake District a day late as am loyally staying in town for a friends birthday. Standard single is £82!
I have had some luck splitting the journey BUT it is not ideal re train times and time to change trains. I don't think I've quite got the hang of this splitting thing. I'll post it in case it helps anyone else but can it be beaten?
I am travelling one way on 30th May. Some of the long tickets involve changes.
Option 1 - found on Trainline.com
London Euston 5:39 (!)
Oxenholme Lake District 8:43 Virgin Trains
Oxenholme 9:14
Windermere 9:30
£28.50
Option 2 - National Rail
London 8:10
Birmingham New St 10:36 £19.40
Birmingham New St 10:46
Windermere 13:43 £35.50
£54.90 in total BUT 10 min changeover at Birmingham!
Option 3 - also National Rail
London Euston 5:50 (!) ... a change en route...
Manchester 12:09 £12
Manchester 12:16
Windermere 13:53 £9
£21 in total (bargain!) BUT early start and a 7 minute changeover!
Any ideas?0 -

How about...
Dep London St.Pancras 09:30, arr Preston 13:40. Advance Single = £18.00.
(change at Leicester and Nuneaton)
Dep Preston 15:00, arr Windermere 15:52. Advance Single = £8.00.
Total = £26.00.
Details from East Coast Trains.
Oh... don't buy your tickets from the trainline.
Avoid their fees and buy your ticket from a train operating company.0 -
