Hi there - hoping someone can help me, please. My son was going to be flying back to Newcastle uni on Monday from Exeter, and needs to hand his dissertation in, so it's important he gets there. We're looking at train options instead, and wonder if anyone knows of split-ticketing options that would work instead. Exeter/Newcastle (or Tiverton, Taunton or Bristol as alternative start points)
Any help much appreciatedReason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0 -

tube Victoria to Kings Cross,
Kings Cross to Sunderland Off Peak Single via Grand Central Trains only = £36.00
Metro/train to Newcastle = £2.90 (if I remember correctly).
Train info from East Coast Trains.
So just over £50.000 -
Thanks for this - really appreciate it. Flybe are putting an announcement out at midday about whether or not they'll be flying tomorrow.Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0

Wondered if anyone could help? I'm trying to find a cheaper ticket if possible to Wakefield from London, out on Friday 23 after 6, back sometime on Sunday afternoon (25th) leaving about 3 or 4 (although this is movable).
Currently best I can find is £74.
Thanks!
For cheaper fares to London try splitting your ticket at peterborough,Most East Coast trains from Wakefield stop there.
If you are prepared to change trains there you can save even more by catching a First Capital Connect service from there to Kings Cross.

http://www.flybe.com/news/1004/disruption_update.htmFlybe has therefore cancelled all flights due to operate today (Sunday 18th April) and tomorrow (Monday 19th April).0 -
First timer here who discovered this forum a short while ago. I love travelling by train & really resent the high cost of rail travel in this country, so I feel I'm in the right place! :T
My question is a slightly different slant to the topic of split ticketing but I'm hopeful somebody will answer my question....
I've been looking on Southerns website for the cheapest day return ticket, Victoria to Worthing for Friday. The best return I could find was, including online 15% booking discount plus network card discount, £12.80. The "£3" one ways are still there but I need the flexibility for my outward & return)
HOWEVER: Doing a search of the identical journey in reverse, the fare for the identical ticket came out at £7.85!
If I made the booking, it would be quite possible (I think?) to obtain my tickets from the machine at Victoria as the Southern machines all seem to all be 'network generic' The big & obvious question though - Is it legal to do a return journey back to front as such?
Thanks in advance for any advice.0 -

This paragraph from the National Rail Conditions of Carriage confirms...17. Using a return ticket
A return ticket (including a two-part return ticket) is only valid for the outward
journey shown on that ticket if the ticket is completely unused. You may not use the
outward part of a return ticket after you have used the return part.0 -

Off Peak Single via NOT LONDON = £17.90
Change at Brighton and Ashford (and maybe at Hove too).
Info from Southern Trains website. Specify via Ashford to get this fare to show.0
