    Sorry, of course that info would help! I need to be at a studio for 11am for which the nearest tube is Tower Hill. So will prob want to arrive at St Pancras for 10. Not sure how long we'll be there but definately returning same day.

    It's just myself and my 3 year old going. I don't have a railcard, am not under 26 and not a student!

    Thanks

    On the UK rail network up to two children under five can travel free with each fare paying passenger, but you can't make a seat reservation for them (if they're travelling for free).
  • Hi,
    I want to get a return from Oxford to York in the next few days. On the spot fare is £77. Anyone know anything better? I will have to buy tickets on the day unfortunately.

    Thanks.

    Without any more details ie dates & times then your could split at one or more of the following ;
    Banbury, Birmingham, derby or Sheffield

    As your buying on the day, look for Off Peak Returns and if any available Super Off Peak Return Tickets

    Welcome to the forums, Skatrekker. Good tip, thanks.

    Next time, if you can book in advance, a Southern DaySave ticket at £10 will get you from Brighton to Milton Keynes. An Advance Single MK to Birmingham N.S. can usually be found for £5.00... can be as cheap as £3.50 though.

    There are £11.50 singles available each way. Out at 0847, back at 1903. These must be bought in advance - preferably now - to ensure that fare

    But it's a long (3 hour) trip - the Banbury to Leamington bit is a bus on that particular day which must add an hour to the journey.

    It's quicker - but more expensive - via London

    Anyone help me. I am travelling form Leamington Spa to Bournemouth on Wednesday and a return is £64. I tried to split it but i can only get the fare to around £50. Not bothered about times but need a good 3 hrs at Bournemouth.

    How about...

    Dep Leamington Spa 11:29, arr London Marylebone 12:59. Advance Single = £7.50.
    Dep London Waterloo 14:05, arr Bournemouth 16:04. Advance Single = £10.00.
    Dep Bournemouth 19:22, arr London Waterloo 21:24. Advance Single = £10.00.
    Dep London Marylebone 22:20, arr Leamington Spa 23:48. Advance Single = £7.50.
    Total = £35.00.

    Or for an extra hour in Bournemouth (at an extra £2.50), the outward trip could be...
    Dep Leamington Spa 10:29, arr London Marylebone 12:02. Advance Single = £10.00.
    Dep London Waterloo 13:05, arr Bournemouth 15:03. Advance Single = £10.00.

    Edited to add:
    Of course you need to get across London somehow.
    Singles on the tube will be £4 each way I think.

    Yep - it hasn't gone up

    Or £2 on the bus (139 from Baker Street avoids a change/2 fares)
