Hi can anyone suggest a good place to split/get a cheap deal on the following route
Wed Dec 30th arrive before 17:00
Derby - Manningtree (inc young persons railcard)
Cheapest I have found is £28.70 which is an anytime single.
Thanks in advance!
Example of split ticket via London:
£15.85 = £10.55 Derby - London Liverpool Street (Advance single) + £5.30 London Liverpool Street - Manningtree (Advance single)
£15.50 = £8.60 Derby - London St Pancras (Advance single) + £1.60 St Pancras International [National Rail] - Liverpool Street [London Underground] (oyster card adult) + £5.30 London Liverpool Street - Manningtree (Advance single)
Pro: Price, relatively quick (< 4 hours)
Con: Advance Singles - Valid only on your chosen service. Not refundable.
Changeable prior to date of travel for a fee

Leeds to Taunton - single - £72.50
Took a bit of looking but if you do the following journey it only costs you £49.30:
Leeds - Chesterfield (£5.50)
Chesterfield - Derby (£5.50)
Derby - Birmingham New Street (£9.50)
Birmingham New Street - Chelthnham Spa (£13.50)
Cheltenham Spa - Bristol Temple Meads (£7.30)
Bristol Temple Meads - Taunton (£8.00)
Total = £49.30
Things i have noted:
* It's cheaper to go from Leeds to Chesterfield (via Sheffield) than it is to just get to Sheffield! So if you're going to Sheffield, get a ticket to Chesterfield.
* Going to Bristol Temple Meads is the same price as going to Bristol Parkway, even though it's further away.
Hope this helps!

Anyone know any for Bath Spa to Middlesbrough on 2nd Jan 2010 (this one is without a railcard). It's for a friend, I've found
Bath -> London Paddington = £48 Open Return
London Paddington -> Middlesbrough = About 86 quid, 2 singles0 -
A Grand Central off peak return Kings Cross to Hartlepool is £69 and it can only be a few ££ to Middlesbrough from there.
The bus (205, about half an hour) from Paddington to Kings X will save on the tube fare.0 -

Hi,
I'm trying to find cheapest ticket for train journey tomorrow from Market Harborough to London St Pancras, returning on same day. I find searching for train tickets amazingly confusing and would REALLY appreciate some help!!
Thanks in advance :A0 -

You can't do this on advance purchase tickets as it's against the ticket's terms. It's called "travelling short" and your ticket won't be valid should someone check it as you leave the train and you'll be slapped with a full fare and possibly a penalty.
Standard walk up fare (eg off peak, anytime) you can though, but those are normally much more expensive than an advance to the right place would be anyway.0 -

When do you need to be there for and until? And do you have a railcard? If not, are you under 26 or in full time education? And is it just you that's travelling?0 -
Sorry, of course that info would help! I need to be at a studio for 11am for which the nearest tube is Tower Hill. So will prob want to arrive at St Pancras for 10. Not sure how long we'll be there but definately returning same day.
It's just myself and my 3 year old going. I don't have a railcard, am not under 26 and not a student!

If you could arrive at StP at 10:19 (dep Market H at 09:12), an One Day Off Peak Travelcard costs £39.50 - including tube.
Both these tickets have no restriction on the return leg... return when you like.0
