    Try this, times and prices from the NXEC website;

    Manchester Pic to London Euston 31/10 05:25 £22 Advance single

    London Euston to Stoke on Trent 1/11 18:50 £15 Advance single
    Stoke on Trent to Manchester Pic 1/11 21:57 £4 Advance Single
    Total £41 Return

    Could make this cheaper but you want to get into London by 09:00

    Hello everybody!
    I was wondering if any of you could help me reduce the cost of a train ticket from Exeter to Sheffield.... I tried to get a cheap advance, but I missed out, so now I am looking at getting a split ticket, but don't know the ideal places to split my ticket... If anyone knows that would be grand!

    I wish to travel from Exeter St Daves to Sheffield on Wednesday 4th November leaving after 12 sometime, then returning to Exeter before 13.30 on Thursday the 5th November. I have a young persons rail card. If anyone could help, that would be grand!

    try spliting at London;
    Exeter St Davids - London Waterloo - London St Pan - Sheffield

    You could get the Exeter to London tickets from Megabus but your times arn't favourable but worth a look?. Also to get the cheap Exeter to London tickets on a train search engine either use Via 'Honiton' or show slower options and 'via Honiton'

    Don't forget to add the cost of the underground

    Firstly, splitting does not always produce a cheaper fare.

    You could try splitting at Banbury, Coventry, Birmingham or Stafford.

    What sort of fare are you looking for?

    £10.00 out and £15.50 back can be found without splitting on those dates.

    Have a look at the NXEC website.

    My head is swimming trying to work this out!! I'm trying to convince my mate to go to a gig on my birthday in February, we live 5 minutes from Gatwick Airport & could get a flight for just short of £70 return which is my prefered option but she wants to know how much it would be by train. February is too far advanced for most sites & I seem to be getting results varying from £34 to £150 upwards!! :eek:

    We would need to arrive in Newcastle in the afternoon, I would say preferably by about 4pm to give us time to get to where ever we are staying & get ready for the gig, coming home the next day doesn't matter what time we leave as long as its not too early. ;)

    Its normally cheaper to for us to travel into London Bridge than it is to go to Victoria and I believe the Newcastle train leaves from Kings Cross so we would need the tube too.

    My friend works for Virgin but I don't know if she gets a discount on train travel or if we even need a Virgin train! Can anyone help me find the fare please??

    Hi BB78, right lets see if we can sort things out here, I'm not going to quote any prices as Febs so far away prices might change in Jan?, but one thing is certain if you want the cheapest tickets then plan and buy in advance around (8-12 weeks varies by train company) and look for advance singles.

    If you do get an Advance single from place A to Newcastle then it will include cross London travel to Kings Cross/Euston (It will state this on the ticket normally by a +). I say Euston because If your friend can get a discount on Virgin trains then Specifying a route via 'Carlisle' will make you travel on a Virgin train hopefully at a discounted price.

    Have been trying to 'split' for hours and I'm so confused :(

    Looking for 2 tickets london-manchester 20th-22nd Nov, I think cheapest was about £50 each so if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it!
  • hiya, wonder if anyone can help me. I'm so annoyed with myself, when i first looked up prices i'm sure i saw one for £35 & now its more than double !!

    I want to arrive in plymouth about 2pm on friday 27th november & depart plymouth about 12ish on saturday 28th november.
    I can depart from woking, clandon or guildford stations.

    I've been flicking between raileasy, first great western, trainline, nat exprss etc etc & the cheapest i get is £77 return - are there any experts who could tell me how or where to split ticket.
    I think the woking-plym trains go via exeter & the guildford-ply ones go via Reading.

    i dont have a railcard & dont think i'm eligible for any of them- not old or student !

    help much appreciated
    thanks
