Need to do this for my Dad - London to Blackpool - next Wednesday - any ideas please for split ticketing
If you really want to split, as opposed to getting a cheap ticket, then have a look at this video.

You could try splitting at Preston, Stafford, Wolverhampton, Crewe, Milton Keynes, pretty much anywhere the train stops at.

You need plenty of time and paper and pencil. Good luck.

Note that Split ticketing does not always work.
  • single Templecombe to Plymouth £32.50
    Templecombe to Exeter £18
    Exeter to Plymouth £7.40
    thus split ticketing saves £7.10
  • Hello,

Got to travel from Euston to Lockerbie on the 4th November, returning on 8th.

Does anyone know of any split ticket journey?

    You could try;
    Euston - Carlise - Lockerbie
Euston - Manchester Pic - Lockerbie
Kings Cross - Edinburgh - Lockerbie

  • There are London - Manchester mobile phone tickets available, but only on the 1140, 1240 and 2040 weekday services from London. Mostly £15 single, sometimes £8 single.

To see them, go to the virgin trains website, click on Special Offers, then Travelling between London and Manchester?

At the moment these are only available up until 22nd October, however this date normally gets extended so it is worth checking back.

Kings Cross - Newcastle - Carlisle - Lockerbie is also a possibility.

Look for Advace tickets first. More chance of a bargain.

We regularly travel this route, and only normally know a few days in advance, so it seems hard to get the bargains. My OH catches the train from Llandudno Junction at 06.38, and so pays top prices. I usually travel off peak, but still only manage to get £71 return...which is what you pay if you just turn up at the station.

I have been looking for other options, without much success so far. Has anyone had any luck with cheaper options on this route please?

    How about...
A £22.70 Off Peak Return to Crewe, then a Super Off Peak Return at £20.00 from Crewe to Euston by London Midland Trains only, so do take a bit longer.

These are walk-up fares available on the day.

Sorry, cannot help with the peak fare.
