EON Saveonline 3 & Saveonline 9

As I said on the phone there should be one standard price. .
But there isn't - is there? The EON Press Release announcing the increases quotes a '15.2% increase for dual fuel customers' on variable tariffs. Yet my Saveonline 6 is increasing (dual fuel) by a net 22%. The Saveonline 9 would generate an increase mildly over 8%. I doubt your Saveonline 3 increase is precisely 15.2%? Presumably EON would say this 15.2% is the average across the overall confusion of all their tariffs?
EON similarly have an Email from me, from over the weekend, questioning the absence of any notation on Saveonline 9. As all the other variable tariffs clearly state these are the new prices - Saveonline 9 does not.
But I can't see, having confirmed these are new prices, how they can then increase just that tariff unilaterally. Their norm - outside the standard tariff - is simply to discontinue it for customers. Which is what is likely to happen if you cling to Saveonline 3. And I suspect that could even happen before 13/9 if they discover they've dropped a brick on the pricing of this offer in isolation. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Hi,
Just found this thread and registered to add my findings.
I've just received the EON price increases for my Saver Online 4 plan, and being a light user was stunned at the 42.38% increase of the Electricity first unit rate, followed by a 17.61% in the next unit rate. This results in a 23% overall increase for my dual fuel plan and penalises light users.
I looked online at the other plans and found the Saver Online 9 plan would be cheaper for me resulting in an 11.3% increase overall. I checked with EON regarding cancellation fee for switching to another plan within the existing 12 month contract, and was told this would be waived due to the high increases.
One thing concerns me, if I switch now, the Saver Online 9 prices are currently higher than my existing Saver Online 4 prices, and would incur an increase of £30 just for this coming month. If I leave switching until just before the price rise date of 13/09/2011, will the Saver Online 9 plan still be available ? Something to ponder on.0 -
Just want to copy my post from another Eon topic to let Eon's rep know how I feel -
I'm in the same position with my mothers Eon account. I didn't want to change her to a different company because of the stress, but Eon have just lied to me several times.
In an e.mail they suggested we change to Eon Fixed April 2013 - so (ONE DAY LATER) I tried to do it online and couldn't get details or do the change. So I rang, and they told me that this tariff had been withdrawn. More checking - it hasn't BUT IT IS ONLY FOR NEW CUSTOMERS - NOT LOYAL CUSTOMERS !!! I was then told that the October 2013 Fix was the same price. It isn't. It would cost over £60 a year more than the April 2013.
Finally I asked about the £30 charge for leaving (which I saw nothing about when signing up) and was told it WOULD apply. Asking again I was told if I was rejecting the increase I had 15 days to complete the change - which is impossible. Then I was told that the 15 day was the time that the new company has to actually contact Eon... again, what with the clock now ticking, and the 7 days to change our minds, it may be difficult. After six years with Eon, I am disgusted that they would lie and make things difficult for an 84 year old who can't afford to keep warm in winter.0 -
I'm on SaveOnline2 which I think is cheaper than anything available anywhere but which ends on 31st Aug. By default it then switches me too EnergyOnline. I worked out that with my annual usage figures, the combination of coming off SaveOnline2 and the 13/9 price increase will mean an overall increase of 42% !
I've decided to wait until 1 Sep to get the full benefit of SaveOnline2 and then decide which tariff to switch to. Hopefully I'll be able to knock the 42% down a few percent.0 -
I am looking at the new prices. SOL9 post increase is only fractions above SOL8 pre increase, nowhere near the % mentioned in the news. 1% on electric and 2% on gas. Something does not add up.
I moved to FP5 at a £215 increase on SOL8 due to the impending changes, that amount seemed reasonable with other company increases, now it shows I can save £183 with SOL9, I smell a rat.
What about October ?SaveOnline 9 will not increase in September where as the other SaveOnline tariff’s will increase.
edit. Energyhelpline is showing SOL9 as 13% cheaper than SOL8 so there is def a rat somewhere.0 -
Deffo. smell a HUGE rat!! I've switched to a fix with EDF from EON fixonline v8. My expected annual cost is marginally higher than the best variable tariffs from all the Utility companies who have announced increases .... with the exception of EON SOL 9 , which is coming up as the 2nd cheapest, only 0.15% (£2 pa!) more than the cheapest EDF Online Saver 12 - which hasn't been increased yet!!
Think either EON have dropped a huge b*****k or they are being deliberately obtuse with this "guaranteed discount" on standard price.
Either way they are going to have to increase it very soon - or everyone will be switching on to it!!!!0 -

Not really. It's a "guaranteed discount" tariff linked to "standard prices" (probably Eon Energy Plan).
Can receive notice of increase up to the "guaranteed discount" at any time. The tariff has an exit fee. While Eon are reported in this forum as currently "waiving" exit fees (only where notified increases have been correctly rejected) this is not a "no exit fees guaranteed" tariff.
Do you understand the Ofgem non-response extracted like a tooth by backfoot?

Do you trust Eon on future "waiver"?
My advice is clear. Beware "guaranteed discount" tariffs.
And at this moment in time it should be an academic question, there are still a few fixes available based on pre-increase pricing. But go with a "guaranteed discount" tariff "now", *when* it increases (hardly *if*) there will *only* be post-increase options.
An open question - do you or don't you *trust* Eon on this?0 -
SOL9 is a new tariff introduced post-increase announcement so everyone will assume this is a post increase price. All other tarriffs have been increased and the comparison sites are showing how this increase will affect consumers. They now show SOL9 as by far the best deal. The eon rep on here has stated that SOL9 will not increase in September. Either it is a very good deal or a deliberate misleading ploy by eon. I do hope the rep will speak to their bosses then come on here to explain.0

I have never managed to work out WHAT IS the standard price with E.On . The Tier 1 and 2 rates are all over the place for the different tariffs.brewerdave wrote: »Either way they are going to have to increase it very soon - or everyone will be switching on to it!!!!
Not if wholesale prices fall to make it a true reflection of costs.
I am riding the variable rate, so I am betting prices are going DOWN.0 -
I am riding the variable rate, so I am betting prices are going DOWN.
That's your call and only time will tell.
In relation to "guaranteed discount" tariffs (linked to standard prices), customers cannot assume a "guaranteed discount" tariff will decrease if standard prices reduce. This is because it is common for the "initial discount" to be greater than the "guaranteed discount".
So for those on or contemplating SOL9, do you trust Eon?0
