But the ironic thing is, that whilst you cannot go out of the UK on holiday AND get paid JSA, if you were sick, in the support group, work group or even still within the first 13 week period of assessment, you can still get your money even if you have an 8 week coast to coast USA trip never mind a few weeks in the sun in Spain!
It's probably thought as being theraputic to your condition to have a nice break away in the sun sipping ice cold beers!!!
It IS therapeutic for a lot of conditions.... so what's your point exactly? Also your not actively required to seek work in ESA and only need to attend 6 meetings with your advising for the year. Comparing JSA to ESA is comical.0 -
I found this on a jobseekers faq site..........I booked a holiday last year while I was still in employment. If I go on the holiday, will I still get my jobseekers payment?
You may receive Jobseeker's Benefit or Jobseeker's Allowance for two weeks holidays (i.e. 12 days excluding Sundays) in any calendar year. These holidays may be taken abroad.
That's fine and dandy except that you read that on a site which deals with benefits in the Republic of Ireland which are not the same as our benefits. Here the rules prohibit holidays abroad.Who say ? ??????
s1(2)(i) of the Jobseekers Act 1995 says that to be entitled to JSA you must be in Great Britain, Greece is not.Bought, not Brought0 -

A general question. How do the DWP know that you have gone abroad on holiday? If you work it around your signing on days can they check in any other way? Other than someone reporting you or showing up with a tan in January after a week in Bermuda
can they check anywhere else (immigration etc)??
