you think its fair when a person could do jobsearch abroad just as easily as in the uk? you think its fair when its easier to get back from many locatons abroad than it is from many locations in the uk. you think its fair when the chances of it clashing with an interview are very small.in your opinion...
I think it's very fair0 -
knowing that reasonable employer wouldnt mind delaying an interview and a bad employer would mind has nothing to do with how long me or anyone else has been unemployed.Oldernotwiser wrote: »No wonder you've been unemployed for so long!0 -
you mean like how today i have been slagged off for never doing voluntary work even though i have mentioned how i have done voluntary work many times.Oldernotwiser wrote: »Because you post about your life in some detail.
edit.
i really dont give people the full picture of what i do. you are mistaking me with someone else who shall remain nameless.0 -

no you couldn't, some places only advertise in the local press for their vacancies, you'd miss out there,
I really don't think there are many places you could get back from abroad quicker than in the UK and do you really expect them to have an exhaustive list of all the places that would apply to?
however small, the chance is, there is still the possibility that you could be called for an interview/second interview at very short notice.0 -

Having read through this thread, it is clear that you have a disgusting attitude to finding a job.
If you are claiming JSA, then you abide by the rules laid out by the DWP for claiming it! If there is a rule stating clearly that you cannot claim JSA whilst out of the country, then you follow that rule.
One would argue that morally, whilst claiming JSA, you should not be going abroad anyway.
Stop whinging, and search for a job, in the uk, properly0 -
just out of curiosity do you have to tell the JC if you are going away in the UK but won't miss your signing on day?
I'm off to my sisters in Scotland tomorrow for a week. I WILL be still job seeking while I'm away, both for this area and her area (am keeping an open mind on relocating as then I would have help with childcare for my son) I will have my mobile with me and my daughter is staying at home so can take any phone calls and open mail for me if anything arrives. Should I have told JC I'm going, it didn't cross my mind that they would need to know?0 -

It isn't about liking the rules and it is up to each jobseeker how much work they put into their jobsearch. Doing the minimum amount may mean they are without a job for much longer. Their choice!
Some applications may take longer than others! Maybe you don't spend much time on them, could be another reason why you are still looking!0 -
ok fair enough you arent slagging anyone off. does that mean it is fair to assume you dont really have an issue if someone who gets around the rule.I am not " slagging " anyone off. It is just that whether you or anyone else agrees to the rules or not, the rules stand that you have to sign off JSA if going abroad, then rapid reclaim on return.
Personally, I don't know why anyone expects to keep their JSA if you go abroad on holiday, afterall, no one goes on holiday without any spending money, so the 50 or 60 for the week of JSA is not needed really, unless people expect to use it as spending money?0
