Lied to Jobseekers

You can request whatever you like but as you say, interviews are very rare so why would you want to chance it?donnajunkie wrote: »well you can if its due to an unfair rule.
It would be unfair if the rule didn't apply to everyone, as it is it is fair (and understandable).0 -
what has been shown is it can be harder or just as hard to get from somewhere in the uk as it is from alot of locations abroad.Well more fool the jobseeker for taking themselves to such a remote part of the country. You use the most extreme example where a car would surely be a must in any case!
At the end of the day you aren't guaranteed a seat on a plane at last minute and Calais isn't convenient from all holiday destinations in Europe!0 -

All depending on that flight! No seats...what are you going to do? Swim?0 -

spending few days away is disgusting isnt it.soothyerboots wrote: »Having read through this thread, it is clear that you have a disgusting attitude to finding a job.
If you are claiming JSA, then you abide by the rules laid out by the DWP for claiming it! If there is a rule stating clearly that you cannot claim JSA whilst out of the country, then you follow that rule.
One would argue that morally, whilst claiming JSA, you should not be going abroad anyway.
Stop whinging, and search for a job, in the uk, properly0 -
the rules do say you should tell them you are going away. they ask you to fill in a going away form. its just a formality because they dont check up on you. that is what i have been told more than once by different jobcentre staff. however if you wont miss signing on etc then they wont know. so who cares.just out of curiosity do you have to tell the JC if you are going away in the UK but won't miss your signing on day?
I'm off to my sisters in Scotland tomorrow for a week. I WILL be still job seeking while I'm away, both for this area and her area (am keeping an open mind on relocating as then I would have help with childcare for my son) I will have my mobile with me and my daughter is staying at home so can take any phone calls and open mail for me if anything arrives. Should I have told JC I'm going, it didn't cross my mind that they would need to know?
edit.
do you have to leave very early to go to scotland tomorrow? if you have time to get to the jobcentre beforehand then you can tell them tomorrow. it doesnt take long to fill in the form and you can just turn up at the jobcentre to do it. the form requires full address and phone number of were you are going and your mobile number if you have one.0 -
jobclubs are usually only a couple of hours a day 2 or 3 days week because they realise that is an adequate amount of time for most. if people spent ages on one application they wouldnt get many done.
Some applications may take longer than others! Maybe you don't spend much time on them, could be another reason why you are still looking!0 -

why chance it? well maybe you spent 2k on the holiday and you dont want to through that down the drain.
if a rule is applied to everyone that makes it fair? lol.0 -

Whilst you are claiming benefit money and should be looking for work to get off JSA, it is, yes.0 -
