Lied to Jobseekers

  • jobclubs are usually only a couple of hours a day 2 or 3 days week because they realise that is an adequate amount of time for most. if people spent ages on one application they wouldnt get many done.

Maybe it's quality not quantity that actually secures interviews/jobs?

Personally I don't have an issue with anyone unemployed taking a break and getting away if they can afford it. What I do have an issue with is an unemployed person being paid JSA during that break. If you can afford flights/hotel/spending money, you can afford to buy some food on your week back while you sign on again.

My OH is self employed and he doesn't get paid when we go on holiday, so we have to save enough to cover the loss of a week's earnings as well as everything else. Why shouldn't you?

If you have enough spare money to go on holiday, perhaps you should be using it to buy a bucket and ladder, or a Tupperware party starter kit, or a shopping trolley - all things you could use to start your own small business. (The shopping trolley would enable you to do a few paper or leaflet rounds. My OH does Yellow Pages every year and makes a couple of hundred quid).

I find it a bit apathetic that people are happy to sit around waiting for jobs to apply for, instead of going out and making their own work.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

why if it doesnt clash with signing on they wont know. you could be walking around handing out cvs or you could be in the pub all day or you could be having a few days away. they are none the wiser whatever you are doing.

    Totally agree with this.

Have a holiday, just stop claiming Job Seekers Allowance whilst on it, because on holiday you are not Job Seeking!

It's posts like this that show how deceitful you are - this attitude is disgusting.

How about stop breaking the rules? Either go on holiday and sign off whilst doing so, or don't go on holiday, carry on claiming, and do your job searching.

    It's that simple.

Whilst you are claiming benefit money and should be looking for work to get off JSA, it is, yes.
no-one has suggested people should not do jobsearch. people can get what they need to do done before and after the trip. they can also do jobsearch while away.

you saying wouldnt someone be bored always going to calais doesnt show a flaw in the point made.

I don't know anyone who would choose to spend much time in Calais tbh.

    So yes, still very flawed!!

Yep. I can't believe people think they will just find jobs by doing a quick internet browse and half heartedly filling in one or two application forms a week!
Job searching itself if done properly is almost a full weeks work in itself!
Work on CV, browse millions of websites, attend job centre, pro actively contact companies, walk around town handing out cv's, etc etc...
lots can be done if only people can be bothered!

Not much. And can you attend interviews whilst on holiday? Nope.
