You know how smoothies aren't as good for you because the food is blended so the sugar is released into your system too quickly?
Does the same apply to veggie soups if you put them through the blender?
I don't fancy unblended cauliflower soup :eek:0 -

Sorry, you keep saying weight loss is 90% diet and exercise is not necessary. I agree about the diet, well it's more 75-80% i'd say, but i don't agree about the exercise bit though. If you want to keep the weight off (essentially the fat as obviously you want to keep as much muscle as possible), then i'd say exercise is very important and not just about making you a 'happier healthier person', but also with the calorie deficit.
Yes you can lose weight without exercise, but how do you go about toning up without it? Or how do you keep it off without exercise? How do you build up muscle, because muscle sure as hell doesn't come from diet alone. Some people end up regretting not exercising often because they end up with a load of loose skin which i've read is hard to get rid of. And no you don't need to workout 7hrs a day or be hardcore for exercise to be beneficial. 1hr a day is fine as depending on what exercise you're doing, you could be burning upto 1000calories.
Not having a go or anything, but just don't see how anyone can say exercise is not necessary, when studies have shown that a combination of diet and exercise is best for weight loss. And i definately could not have lost 74lbs with diet alone.0 -
Hello all!!
Been a while just thought i'd pop in and see how you're all doing! My weight loss has been slow but I have managed to lose a few lbs since booking my wedding (been hanging around the wedding forum lately!)
Got about 5 months to lose at least a stone and thinking about getting back into SW to maybe kick start my weight loss. Only problem with that is I love oak crackers for lunch, low gi, low cals, really filling, but they are synned on SW!!
How's everyone getting on? eric, fred, victory, puds, vix, sary, efrieze, margaretclare, granny, BB, beanie...any of you guys still around? And anyone else from the gang I've not mentioned apologies, it's been a while!!margaretclare wrote: »
It has to start with a change of mindset i.e weight loss starts in your head. I too have watched a couple of the 'I used to be fat' programmes. One was an 18-year-old girl with a personal trainer and he had the patience of a saint with her, because as far as I could see, she had NO motivation of her own - in fact he said as much to her mother - because all the exercises he set her to do she whinged, cried, wailed, wept and moaned, and I thought to myself 'if you put as much energy into the exercises as you do protesting about it you'd be half-way there!' Her motivation was about clothes, fashions and wanting to look attractive before starting college. Nevertheless she did actually lose the weight!
Very weird coincidence, was just watching this episode when I logged on!!!Betty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....

With green smoothies I have quadrupled my green leafy veg intake and they are delicious to drink.

I'd be the last person to say that exercise is not necessary, but there are people out there - myself included - who just could not do the kind of exercise you're talking about. An hour work-out a day? It would be impossible for me. So, does that mean you condemn us never to be able to lose any weight, although we may urgently need to - and it's not just a question of a bikini on the beach or similar.
I go to 50+ stretch-and-tone Mondays and Thursdays, 45 minutes. I also go to 50+ aqua-aerobics Tuesdays. That's it. Just about all I can manage.
DH is finding, since I've been doing the Dukan Diet, that he's eating a lot less carbs than formerly, and the spin-off from this is that he needs a lot less insulin and, would you believe it, he's losing weight? He can't do ANY exercise at all because of the knee problem. We are both encouraging each other, we've had a lot of negative comments along the lines of 'oh you can't lose weight at your age' but the fact remains, weight is gradually dropping off both of us, so we do NOT need any more discouragement just because we can't do work-outs. Believe me, if it were physically possible I'd be out there with people I know who run the Essex Bootcamps in the local woods, but a few minutes of one of their sessions would be enough to finish me off altogether.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Hey Everyone,
Good to see you over here Willow! :j You sound just like me in needing a constant kick up the bum, lol. Have you decided on a diet plan, or are you going for the 'eat less, move more' approach? There's a lot of knowledge about all sorts of diets on here, so I'm sure we can help whatever you go for
Tights - Congrats on SOTW! Most veg is very low in sugar so it doesn't matter how you eat it.
Well I've done another new exercise for the challenge - walking, could have probably added this before, but didn't want to add something that I would have done throughout the day anyway. Went on a 30 min brisk walk earlier as the sun came out for a while. Hoping to do something on the Wii later as well as I'm falling behind with exercise this month.0 -
