Lose Weight 34

Well, it's a loss of 5.2lbs for me this week - thanks Fred.
That's a bit worrying really, isn't it? Presumably that isn't all fat, so what is it? I lost 3.6lbs last week - so not like I was due anything from the scales... The only thing is this week I didn't go on my exercise bike - I should have had 2 x 1 hour interval training cycles, but I hurt my neck and then I didn't feel very well on Saturday. I still went to zumba twice, and did a fairly high intensity workout dvd on Friday.
This is the most I have lost since I started weighing myself (I started trying to lose weight for about a month before I was brave enough to actually weigh myself). I am now 6lbs away from 5 stone lost, and then I have another 5 stone (ish) to go.
I'm not interested in big numbers, I just want to burn fat - so I'm a bit worried about the big loss today :cool:0 -
Hi All
Ok, read through the whole Body for life book, and this is what it pretty much says:
1. Food. 6 meals a day. Hi protein, good fat, Low GI carbs, small portions, no carbs after 5pm. 1 cheat day. He's put carbs and vegetables down as separate. Not sure why, because vegetables are really fibre and carbs. Not sure about the cheat day either which he says you can eat pretty much what you want. Perhaps a cheat meal would be more appropriate. Portion size: Protein - the size of the palm of your hand, carbs - the size of a clenched fist. This it is a good formula!
2. Exercise - High intensity exercise both CV and weights in this sequence - CV - W - CV - W - CV - W - OFF - repeat.
You do exercise depending on your fitness levels. So this is not a one program fits all! It is all about pushing yourself, shocking your muscles and beating your previous best effort, which I think is excellent motivation. He recommends high intensity training for 20 mins on CV days. I'm not sure this would be a good idea for people with injuries or who need to lose a lot of weight. I think you can definitely push yourself to walk briskly for an hour than do 20 mins of HIIT if you have poor fitness.
3. It made for excellent motivational reading. It definitely made me think of what I would like to achieve and is very encouraging.
All in all a very good read. The diet advice is not new, but it is the truth and the best way to lose weight. So I am going to follow it. Regarding the exercise, I'm going to get to a good level of fitness till I attempt it. Currently walking at a brisk pace for an hour a day is doing the right thing for me. Hopefully in a few weeks/ month, I will attempt the BOL HIIT exercises. Although I am considering buying a few dumbellsfor the weight trainiing. Also, it is not limited to 12 weeks, basically after you have finished 12 weeks, you simply adapt the program and keep going. It is more of a lifestyle choice than a quick fix.

Hey Everyone,
Eric - Glad to hear that you are making progress with the ice cream! I have chocolate flavoured protein shake so may try choc ice cream!!!
Tights - Your dinner sounds delicious!!!Stuffed chicken breast in parma ham is sooo tasty! We usually have it with blue cheese and walnuts! Sounds odd, but is really nice.... if you like blue cheese, anyway! Not tried it with pesto so will have to give it a go.
Frodo - Not sure if this helps, but when I clicked the link I had to create a Google account, once I had done it the invite to join came up straightaway. I couldn't get to it without creating the account.
Well I've spent the last 5 hours sorting the house out - tidying, cleaning, etc. Knackered now, and definitely think I've earned my '10 mins of housework' for the challenge! I've not calorie counted at all today (although I do have to have a sneak peek at the cals in everything I eat - it's an obsession!!!). I do think I've eaten quite well though and have been making 'good' food choices, so I should be on track for a loss this week.
Hi lolly, thanks for that it was really helpful, and once I created an account it opened straight away.:j
Thank you fredsnail for creating the chart for us, and all your hard work.:TDFW Nerd 1394.

Well I survived, I am NEVER doing that again.
Up at 4.30am yesterday my start time was 6.24am, rode though strong winds, rain and didn't stop for the full 12 hours. Results not back yet, my garmin packed in at 11 hours and at that point I had covered 183 miles. I am hoping for 195 miles.
I cried at 9 hours, thankfully it was raining so no one could tell.
I burned 7000 calories, half in fat burn half in cardio.
worst part STS!!!!!!!!!:rotfl:
So after a week carbo loading, yesterday spent eating bagels and flapjacks on the bike, oh and curry in the bath after I am back in the diet wagon, and I need some help to stay on it, because I have been to the cakeside and have all those cravings back again!!!
Help me mse'ers!!!!!!0 -
Oooh I had a bit of a busy time towards the end of last week - had to organise me and my OH for my cousins wedding on Sat (it was a lovely day) - so the exercise and eating went by the wayside!
FS, Can you put me down for the Brothers team, the 5lbs challenge and I'll do the Ben Nevis challenge.
I went to the gym today, first time since last Monday. Did a little cardio and some weight work. Fell that I need a bit of direction with my workouts, but can't really afford personal training.0 -
Hey all!
FS put me down for 2.5 miles C25K Run 1 Week 8.
I am going to be lost at the end of week 9, not more plan to follow

as long as the healthy fats include animal fat and exclude dangerous vegetable fats/oils, ie the ones that are not cold pressed, and that at least 30% of your intake comes from fat, low fat is unnatural and dangerous for us0 -
Fred -1lb loss for me this week.
Not too bad as it was my birthday at the weekend and went out for a few meals. Did cut down on the carbs at the restaurant by asking for extra veg and no potatoes, but couldn't resist the puds.
Good luck with the weight loss this week everyone.
