sportbeth wrote:My point exactly - I think her impression is that she will turn up, wear the dress and then walk off with it. There has been no mention of helping with anything, although my sis in law is offering to help out with all sorts of stuff as her kids are page boy and bridesmaid too.And yes the lady in the avatar is me

I am currently doing the dress planning for my wedding. My 3 girls from prev marriage asked to be "bridesmaids", 2 teenagers and a 9 yrs old. I find that there are gorgeous fashion dresses on a lot of the US sites - the ones for older girls are going to be cut down so they can use them as afterwards. Good quality for about $100 mark so even with p&p, much cheaper than buying or getting made in the uk.Integrity is a dying art!:p0

I know how you feel!!! I'm 3 months away from my wedding and about to sack my bridesmaid! Have been contemplating it for months as she's become a total nightmare - not interested or involved in the wedding preparations at all.
At the end of the day it takes a bit of courage to bring up the subject - I started the conversation over email this weed but am going to tell her in person on Monday that as BM she is no longer required! I only spent £20 on her dress in a sale so I don't feel too hard done by!!
Anyone who stresses you out is not worth it - you should enjoy all the preparation even though it is difficult to take care of the budget and do what you want.
Good luck with everything! and bite the bullet and tell her - it gets worse the longer it goes on!!!!0 -
Judging by the silence I can only assume that the said sacked bridesmaid has smothered Sportsbeth with her own wedding dress:eek:Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

Either that or has captured her and isnt letting her go until she agrees that she will still let her be bridesmaid!Weight Loss - 102lb0

Tell her that you're gay and want to run off with her*, that should keep her away from the Wedding!
Perhaps the best option is to get them both together and say "Would my Bridesmaid please take one step forward" if you're *cough* best *cough* friend moves forward just say "Who told you to move!?" Job done.
Failing that you could just say that because of the distance involved between you both you've chosen someone nearer for whom it won't be such a burden to keep on meeting up with you.
*May backfire spectacularly0 -

I've just PM'd Sportsbeth to ask for an update, however she hasn't posted on here at all since the 30th January so she might be away or something. Fingers crossed that she comes back soon!;)Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
