???? They already had those details, in order to make the call in the first place.

What do they put in the telephone directory where you live?

I know one technique they use, is to tear a telephone directory into sections, and get dogs bodies on commission only, to work their way through them.
The real problem is, they are now ignoring the TPS lists. (Especially the foreign callers who must get directories sent to them.)
Wrong. They often just have a list of phone numbers to try. My phone number is not in any directory ( which shows my name and address). Many of us are ex-directory.

Depends on what is in the contract but Gross Misconduct is usually confined to theft and violence. [/QUOTE]

    Not true.
Try calling your manager an incompetant pr**t, or revealing company business to outsiders, or..... etc etc etc.

Could the sales person who made the call initially, take the OP to court for their own data protection (or whatever) and claim the loss of their job and loss of earnings, due to the OP recording the call to use against them, without their knowledge?

I must add though, I think this is either a) a scam, b) the OP being fobbed off or c) BS.

What a strange idea you have on what is called 'DATA'.
The callers name is not data, their behaviour is not data, the contents of their call to the OP is not data.

    Birkee,

I know that your details are sold on from all Companys you use such as mobile phone providers, banks to loyalty cards, people just think that by registering with the TPS it will cease all cold calls, this is incorrect as there are a lot of unscrupilous Companys out there that will purchase and ignore any any TPS records, I know this as I to am on the TPS service but it fails to work 100% of the time as these guys just state we purchased the said data in good faith.

It's not wrong, as I have knowledge of this method being used.
Not all participants are prepared to pay for compiled lists from other sources.
    and,
it is only one of many methods, not the ONLY method which they use.

And being on Virgin cable, I pay £2:50 extra a month to block all calls not revealing the callers number, but I still get loads of calls. (And I'm on the TPS list.)

    Birkee,

Its discusting that you get these calls and the way these Company's feel that they are above the law, I know if they are done from abroad you can do very little but be rude to them but the UK calls bug the life out of me as when ever you confront them about being on the TPS or the fact that they dont have your consent to ring you then they have the sheer nerve to be extremely rude.

for being a forum thats about discussing money saving and the likes, there sure are a lot of impertinent people who are full of sacrasm and who feel the need to post scurrilous comments to boost there own egos
The funny thing about this forum is that it's about saving money ;) .....What this thread is doing on the "Mobile Phones" section is beyond me.
However that said it seems that there are one or two Walter Mitty's who think that they can dream up situations that have happened to them to try and justify starting a thread and receive some sort of recognition for it.

I do actualy feel sorry for you as the type of comments posted show how inept you truly are.
No need to feel sorry for us Crazy, you only need to do that after you have posted the pic of the cheque and the apology from the company :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I have found the best way to deal with them is to actualy go along with what they are offering then they do divulge more info on the Company they work for as if you just tell them from the outset that you are not intrested thats when you normaly get the phone slammed down on you or as in this case a person who thinks its fine to verbaly abuse you and hope to get away with it.

I dont know that they did sack her, I would hope that they did and that she is now signing on for benefits as it will show at the least in the office she worked in that this sort of behavour is unacceptable.
