I am taking him to eurodisney next month so wouldnt think france, I am open to the idea of hopping on a plane but I guess for 2 days I wouldnt really want to pay more than £500. we live near east midlands airport so if we could jump on a plane in the wee hours that would be good i'd happily go and sit by a pool for 2 days with him!
he's 3 so a bit young for centreparcs but i think they're pretty pricey anyway.
i'd love one thanks tod, got any in your private room?!
Ooooh!!! I so know where you are coming from!!!! I have a 4 year old and a 3 year old.... most days I am too knackered to do anything!! and now my 12 year old has broke up from school, she wants to be taken everywhere at short notice!!!
I was planning on taking them to a farm earlier but my eldest put a stop to this - I was getting into the shower at 11.30 and she asked if she could be taken into the village 7 miles away where her school was at 12.30 until 5... completely put a mucker on my whole day as it was in the complete opposite direction where I was planning to go!! I could have taken her.. but then I'd have been clockwatching for pick up time for her!! If I'd have taken them all to the farm, I would just have had a 12 year old with a face on!!
I looked round the house... every room I'd tidied yesterday was bombarded with toys!! I could really have sat down and cried!!! what's the point!! I've got ironing to do... but it's far too hot to do it all over a steam iron !!
I'd promised myself that at least once a week I'd take the kids out over the holidays (my son starts school in September so was adamant I was going to spend some real quality time with him over the holidays!!)
To be fair to my OH, he did offer to come home early tonight so I can get some time to myself.. bless him!
I do like the sound of bogging off to cornwall on the plane for a few days... I myself am quite close to east midlands airport!!

lexus lass that's exactly how I feel, my motto is "time spent crying is time that could be spent cleaning" - pathetic or what?
I have to hold it back a lot, I feel stupid because I know a lot of women just get on with it but I hate doing the same thing over and over its so monotonous and I feel like 3 days a week at least we are just in the house. I get so hot and bothered running around and I have quite long hair so if we decide to go out it takes me more than an hour to shower and get ready and then he needs lunch etc so its usually at least 2pm we get out of the house! so its quite hard to plan days iyswim.
i do like drayton manor but i dont think their hotel is built yet? will look into that thankyou
going to browse that link now Tropez - thanks

Me too! Mine are 8 and 11. I threw a 'paddy' aboutt his exact thing this weekend and told DH it was the equavilent of me screwing up and creasing those work shirts he'd just ironed. After that he helped, perhaps he saw the gleam in my eye.:rotfl: Getting husband to take kids away and leave you at home is also a good idea. Mine took ours last week for a few days as I was working, yep you miss them but it's sooooooo nice to have things looking just like you left it.Ooooh!!! I so know where you are coming from!!!! :eek:at your 12yo lexuslass. I am hoping to 'teach' my going to Secondary in Sept child how to use public transport for next year and how to cycle to the nearest sports centre too.
Do you dive marywooyeah and have a car? Just it might help suggesting places if we know how you intend travelling (other than flying away).0 -
If I can be frank it appears to me that you maybe expect too much of yourself. Hoovering 4 times today because your son has dropped crumbs - why???? There's no need to hoover every time something is on the floor, neither do you need to spend all day going round picking up after him.
When my kids were young I would tidy and whip the hoover round in the evening when they were in their pyjamas having quiet time before bed. They wouldn't be having anything more to eat for the day so no more crumbs and there'd be no more toys out because it was quiet time and story reading before bed. This also meant that once the kids were in bed everything was done and I had a few hours to myself.
Be honest, look at your house once your son is in bed, is it any tidier for you running yourself ragged constantly picking up and hoovering all day or would it look just as tidy if you did it once at the end of the day?
There's only 3 of you, do you really need to do 2 loads of washing a day? Are your clothes really that dirty or could you cut back on the washing? If you decide to go out for the day wash your face, stick your hair in a ponytail, make some sandwiches and off you go!
You do sound like you need a break and a couple of days away will probably help recharge your batteries but to be honest after your break you'll be going home back to the same situation and chances are you'll feel the same again in a few weeks. And playing Devil's advocate I can understand how frustrated you must feel with your husband and he could be more supportive but I'll bet there's times he wishes he could get away for a few days for a break from job stresses.
An elderly relative told me a poem when my kids were young and I love it and it's so true. Nobody lies on their death bed thinking "oh I wish I'd cleaned my house more", relax and stop hoovering every times there's crumbs on the floor!!!
"I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;
Because children grow up while you're not looking,
There are years ahead for cleaning and cooking.
So, quiet now cobwebs, dust go to sleep.
I'm nursing my baby, and babies don't keep."Dum Spiro Spero0 -
If I were you I would get on a train to the seaside, find a little B&B and have a couple of days break. You really sound like you need to recharge your batteries. Have fun what ever you decide to do, sod the washing, ironing etc.
thats a great idea, loads of beaches less than 2-3 hours from Nottingham
.
I also think getting out of the house on a regular basis with your 3-year old would be a good idea - you sound thoroughly fed up with the constant round of clearing up/cleaning you do. If you're not in the house it can't get mucky can it? Have a look at Nottingham Whats On, for the rest of the summer they have cheap/free stuff going on outdoors almost every day.0 -

Does the Sun newspaper discount code still work for the Alton Towers hotels? That could be good, the hotels are well themed for adults and kids alike. Theme parks are busy this time of year though.0 -

thats what I did too when my little one was a toddler - a 10-minute tidy round of all her toys and hoover up when she was in her pjs and ready for bed. I had toy boxes in the living room and her bedroom so it was easy just to drop the toys in those, all ready for the next days mayhem.0 -
I wish i had kids.
Aren't they good fun when they're little.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.
