OMGosh, that's really strange, will you contact them to find out if an error has been made? You wont be able to sit on the money forever, especially with Christmas coming up. Brilliant news though, well done x
  • After reading some of these posts I rang Barclays just to reassure myself that I was moving up the queue. My 40 days waiting for payment is up next week and I was told today that they are running 2-3 weeks behind with this stage. The adviser I spoke to was extremely helpful, checked that there was nothing else holding it up and even advised me against using a claims company. They said that the next stage is I will receive a calculations letter and then shortly after that I will receive the payment. I don't bank with Barclays anymore but they said I have an old savings account still live with them so the payment will most likely go into that account, they couldn't be 100% sure on that bit though so I could get a cheque. I did mention that I knew people had been paid out quicker than me and was told that the reason for this is that some claims are more complex than others. Mine involves several loans so it sounded reasonable. Just a few more weeks to wait.

I rang and was told that I would receive a 2nd letter "some time after 1st December", showing how my ESTIMATED payment was calculated as the figure I have has not "been verified"???!!! Well - that's a new one on me!

Yes I think that's the same as me. Back in September I had an upheld letter saying that they estimated they would pay me back just over £10k and that they would be in touch again within 40 working days with an exact amount and the calculations. The letter did say that the exact payment wouldn't be less than the estimate. I'm just coming up to the 40 days now and they said today on the phone to expect a delay of 2-3 weeks beyond the 40 days.
  • Hello all
Well I am afraid I have lost the will to live with Barclays!
My 40 working days was also up on Friday 11 November. I also e-mailed the shiney one (Bob) on Saturday. I requested that someone with at least one ounce of common sense in his Customer Relations Team call me today to let me know when I could expect payment. Have a guess what - no call
So for the 7th time in two weeks I called them. Was given the usual run around until in the end I asked to speak to a Manager. This was the 4th different Manager I have spoken to, and each one has given me a different story.
Was told today that a letter was sent yesterday from the "shiney" ones office, and since then a cheque and letter was sent later the same day. Was given the amount, but after all the lies I have already been told I am not holding my breath.
Strange thing is I have banked with Barclays for over 30 years and questioned why I had been sent a cheque. Manager was unable to answer that one.
Anyways, when I arrived home from work the letter from the
" shiney" ones office was waiting for me. Yes, it was the same as a posters on another Barclays thread, completely ignoring the questions I had asked and letting me know how long they had to answer a PPI complaint!!!! This just goes to show that they do not even bothert to read their complaints and just send out standard letters, totally shocking customer service.
I will be waiting to receive my cheque that maybe I will get by the end of the week, but who knows. If I dont, I am just going to forget about it as I cannot be bothered to get any more stressed out with this bunch of incompetent idiots.
Good luck to everyone else who has the misfortune of trying to get some sense out of Barclays.
