Barclays claim timeline thread

I put in a claim to Barclays early October got a reply from them on the 24th October saying they were looking into my claim. Not heard anything yet, I was excited thinkin I'd get something by christmas but reading other peoples messages here it doesn't look likely boo hoo.
Great news: sent an email to Bob Diamond on the 5/12/11 asking about my claim and how long it would take. Received an email from their office today 8/12 saying my claim has been upheld and that they sent a letter to me on the 2/12/11 which i have yet to receive so I'm not sure how much I will be getting back and I will receive it within the next 40 days woop woop. I'm hoping as I still hold an account with them that it will go into my account sooner. fingers crossed.
Does anyone know if this effects my tax credits/job seekers do I have to declare it?
I didn't receive my letter on the 9/12 and even with Christmas postal issues it should of arrived. I sent an email to the person dealing with my account asking her to ring me as I wanted to know how much I was getting and why it couldn't just be paid into my Barclays account as I had bills I needed to pay and I wasn't prepared to wait 40 days. She rang me back the same day and she was very helpful, she told me my estimate refund was £5800 which I was happy with & resending the letter out to me (i don't think it had been sent she read my postcode out and said it was wrong that's why I hadn't received it but it was right?). I explained my situation, basically penniless & desperate and why did I have to wait I have a Barclays account just put the money in, ( I told her I'd been using this site and that there was a lot of people gone way over the 40 day mark for payment and still no payment from Barclays & she said that there had been a lot of complaints of this happening) she said she had sent my info to the payment Dept and asked them to rush through the payment and if I had any further problems to ring or email her and she will deal with it. So fingers crossed, I'll keep you posted. time scale thus far is 8weeks.0 -
After a further email on Friday, I have had £9k deposited into my account today...a bit short of the £14,750 in my letter!!! Still - it's better than nothing. :j:j0

Fantastic news but I fail to understand their logic of paying you £5k less than estimated, that's quite a difference!0 -
My update is that after sending 2 emails to Bob and receiving a couple of emails from customer relations, we were told we would get a definite answer last Friday (5th December), we then received another email to say it's taking longer than expected so we would now hear early this week. Nothing received as of yesterday so we called Barclays who informed us that a letter was sent on the 10th, outlining our final offer and an acceptance form which we need to sign and send back.
I've said this before and I'll say it again, I don't understand their logic of how they are handling this. Some people had money paid straight into their account and didn't have this letter and acceptance form, some people didn't even have to wait 40 days.
Oh well, I'll guess we'll watch this space, don't think we will see this money by Christmas now

Nor did I...but today I have got their letter, and the missing money forms part of another payment to go in once I sign my restructured loan agreement.Quote:

Hi all,
Just reading these posts; I made a claim in April...I think the 2nd it was and was firstly told nothing would happen until the courts decided. I heard nothing until around June when they said they will give me a full reimbursement on my PPI paid to date by 31st August. Wonderful I thought so around September the 2nd I called them to say I've heard nothing, they said a letter had been sent to me and that a payment has been made into my Barclays savings account which I havent used for over 6 years, as I closed my current account due to issues suffered with them before. (trudge to the bank, many questions later they released the money)
After getting this money it wasnt anywhere near what I had worked out they owed. I waited for the letter that they 'resent' to me (seem to be reading alot about these original letters sent out that havent been received). I called back as the letter I finally received stated a new loan agreement with the PPI deducted and stated once they receive the signed form back I would get the remainder of my money (6.5k). This I sent recorded delivery and was received on the 9th september, I called around a week later when no money was paid in and they said my case had been closed and they would need to reopen it. This wasnt then done until the 26th september and I was told wouldnt be long to be resolved.
It is now the 15th December and after possibly 3/4 calls per week being told it wont be long but they cant give a timeline even though its now been more than 6 months since my original complaint, I'm beginning to get a little fed up.
Does anyone have any advice to give on what my next step is? I didnt use a claims company but I have to say that considering they took me for over £10k's worth of PPI I'm beginning to find it unjust that they can flout the court orders put against them. I have a one month old son and a girlfriend who I was planning to 'pop the Q' to on NYE but it's looking very unlikely right now
any advice would be very much appreciated.
Apologies if the answer is somewhere on a thread.

A big thank you to all. I spent a lot of time reading these forums before deciding to pursue my PPI claim on my Barclays overdraft and am so thankful to all the contributors.
Phoned the bank late September to complain, they sent out the forms, I filled them in and sent them back. I received a letter late October saying my complaint was upheld and early December telling me my amount. It's a little over £2,000. I calculated £2,800 but for the sake of time and convenience I'm accepting the £2,000. It looks like they went back 6 years until their records ceased and didn't credit anything before that. I'm more than happy with that.
I'll keep you all updated when the payment is received. I've actually found the process easy and had no hassle to date. I've not even had any verbal communication with them at all.0 -

Barclaycard sent me a rejection letter yesterday basically they said I positively chose the option but as I recall it wan't an option if I wanted the card! and that it was in 1994 pre 2001 so I could not take my complaint any further.
I have spent some time reasding through threads on these forums and have emailed Bob basically reiterating the circumstances of the sale, why I feel it was miss-sold and that the date was irrelevant so fingers crossed I might get to explain to a real person.0 -
I received a letter finally from Barclays on the 14/12/11 saying my claim had been upheld I would be receiving £5898.00 this includes 8% interest including up to 40 days wait. The letter was originally posted to me on the 2/12. I emailed the person dealing with my claim and had a good old rant complained about the wait and basically sayin I'm skint and that they had no right to hold onto money that is mine that they were pushing me further into poverty. I still owe money off the loan and I'm in arrears the longer they drag their heels with this the more I have to pay them back and I wasn't prepared to wait, she had told me in a previous email that she had asked it to be rushed through (as if). I went on to say that they should be fined again for taking so long, they're quick to bang on charges and interest on peoples accounts but when it comes to paying back money that they've cheated out of people it's a different story. She replied to my email 10 minutes later apologising and said she had sent my file to the relevant dept and I would be hearing from them soon. Well she best had of coz she'll be hearing from me everyday until its resolved grrrrrr. All my fingers crossed.0
