  • I appear to be the latest victim of this and it is depressign to see this thread has been running for two years without any apparent action being taken by the mobile companies.

I seem to have been scammed by someone new on the block, Global Media who I have never subscribed to or heard of.

Going back to June Three have taken £65 out of my account without my authorisation.

Also last month these extra charges caused my Direct Debit to bounce as there was not enough in my household bills account to cover it. This is what alerted me.

I have given Three hell on the phone today and they are conducting an investigation which will be concluded within 72 hours.

    Will keep you posted.

    Hi ricshaw123,

Thanks for making me aware of your concerns.

If you'd like any further help with this could you email me with your details via the link in our profile here?

All you need to do is copy and paste the link into your web browser and it'll take you to the Contact us form on our website. To make sure it reaches me could you also quote the code WRT135 - MSE in the subject line?

Once sent you'll receive an automated reply with a reference number. Could you update the thread with this and I'll get back to you as soon as possible?

    Kind regards,

  • I started by playing hell with Vodafone explaining that a breach in security was the reason for the charge applied to my bill. They then agreed to credit my next bill for the amount. They then gave me kko mobile tel which is 0845 834 1119. I then called them and explained that I have spent 30 mins sorting this charge out and if I had to do this in future that I would be issuing them an admin charge for the time they have wasted, and that my charge would be significantly more than there weekly charge, for a subscription I never agreed to, from a company I have never heard of. I then explained to the phone operator that he should look for a new job as the fraudulent company he is working for would soon be dealt with accordingly and shut down. Think I made my point loud and clear.

I've also been scammed by these scumbags at KKO Mobile. I categorically did not ever purchase something from them nor did I click on any content etc.

My Vodafone account manager contacted KKO to stop the subscription but said they won't do anything about getting my money back. Incredible that a company can put charges on your mobile account without authorisation.

I've taken matters into my own hands and this is what I would recommend anyone else doing.

    1. Make sure you send the message saying STOP to stop them charging your account.

    2. Go to the KKO MObile website LINK REMOVED and submit a request. Here is the text from mine:

I did not ever nor would I ever download an app, ringtone or game from your company.

    A. Please confirm that there is no current subscription for number xxxxxxxxx.
    B. PhonepayPlus requires you to keep records of exactly what item was clicked on to start a subscription as this is the commencement of a legal contract. Please show what this was in my instance.
    C. Under your own rules and under PhonepayPlus guidelines, you have a 3 step opt in process. Please show that I opted into a service by agreeing to 3 separate steps.
    D. After the first SMS where a subscription was commenced, please show me details of all activity on my subscription on my account - all items downloaded etc. There were none I can assure you.
    E. I have reported this to PhonepayPlus and to Vodafone. I would therefore appreciate that you reply regarding these questions without delay as I intend to pursue this further if not resolved quickly and entirely to my satisfaction including the refund of all monies taken from my Vodafone account.

    3. Then go to the PhonepayPlus website and lodge a formal complaint against KKO Mobile here: LINK REMOVED

    4. Complain to Vodafone - I've just done this via the weblink posted earlier by Lee. Reference above Lee.

    5. You will get a reply from PhonepayPLus where you need to provide copies of your mobile bill showing the charges, copies of SMS messages and I also sent them all the communication I had with KKO MObile that have of course gone unanswered.

I have today also emailed Lee the Vodafone web relations company representavive, in a last ditch attempt to get a refund. But I also agree that Vodafone should start supporting their customers when they have been a victim of a scam. We have a business account spending around £1000-2000 per month and Vodafone have been far from helpful so far.

  • i have been hit with 4 x £3.75 which i lower than most, but i contacted 02 who have put a block on premium rates and complained to payphoneplus

i phoned the 08458341119 that was on the text when i text back STOP and spoke to a spectacularly unhelpful french lady who passed the email address of who to contact and she said she had taken me off the system - i do no believe her but have emailed KKO anyhoo

see what happens - shocking that they are getting away with it and have been for over a year now
  • I have never been hit with any of these kind of scams having had various mobiles for over 10 years. This month I noticed that I had an extra £4.50 charge (so obviously lucky that it had happened in the last week of my bill).

I called vodaphone the very next day, explained I had not even recieved a text or any kind of notification of this charge and they were extremely helpful with no questioning at all.

They credited £5.00 to my account (50p up, get in!) and put a bar on any kind of premium charge being made again. She even gave me her name and ext number in case of difficulties in the future.

As Dalton said, be nice - it works wonders.

just got this today after accidentally clicking on an advert in my iPhone Skype app at the top of the contacts list as I was trying to scroll. utter scam.

what I find beyond ridiculous is that Microsoft / Skype would partner with them to show their adverts as well as the fact that Skype would actually give my phone number to them without my consent.
  • I am with Vodafone and I have been receiving a text every month since November 2012 stating that I am signed up to KKO Mobile by MYDOO costing £4.50 per week, to unsubscribe type STOP. I have ignored these texts as national press/TV said never reply to a message which says STOP. I have never "signed up" for anything of this kind. This month I phoned Vodafone stating my case and concern. Vodafone sent me through detail of how to contact KKO mobile for which i have. they have stopped the subscription 'they say' but are not going to refund me any money at all. £139.50 they have taken from my account. they have also stated you get 5 credits per week at a maximum of 40 (which is 8 weeks) but they continued to take money from my account. the regulator is most probably on the payroll. how can they be authorised to take money from your phone without permission????
