It may not apply to most here, but someone posted recently on the Las Vegas Talk thread to say that he went to the airport a few days ago to board his flight to Vegas and he was turned away because travelocity.co.uk hadn't paid the airline! He had booked a flight/hotel package with them. He eventually got on a flight the following day, but had 2 stops instead of 1. If anyone books through travelocity may be worth checking with the airline a few days before your flight.

As for the fate of this thread, Trets - maybe you could do what fatwallet does and 'archive' this thread with a link to a new 2008 thread, and in the first post of the 2008 thread link back to this one? Though as someone said, not sure how long until old threads die around here...but I bet that people would still post on the 2007 thread for awhile at least.

I did pm an mse official about making thread a sticky..but havent had a a reply, maybe it was the wrong person.

BMI compare very well with Virgin IMO, flew with them to San Diego, food was great, staff very nice and good individual entertainment systems.

Flying with AA to Vegas in October and not looking forward to the changeover in Chicago at all

    Anything I should know ????

I am flying with BMI to San Francisco via Chicago a week today :j

(weekend trip to Las Vegas in the middle of my stay :T )

Just wondered if the comment about Chicago changing was a general one of a change of flight, or, is there something specific about changing at Chicago that I should know about........apart from the likelyhood of missing my connection getting through immigration and changing terminals

Sorry about spooking you, no my comment was referring more to my past experiences of changing at Chicago because the changeover is usually pretty tight.
The last few times I have done it, I have ended up running full pelt through the terminal because the security lines were so long I nearly missed my connections.

I have bad memories of Chicago in general after a flight from hell. 3 hour delayed takeoff, then another 3 hours back at the gate after plane developed a fault, then 4 hours waiting in a line to be allocated a hotel, then another 6 hours waiting the next day to be allocated a new flight then another 8 hours waiting at Heathrow on standby after finding out they hadn't booked us on any connections to Manchester (even though they said they had).

Its just a very busy airport with not enough security and immigration staff ;)

I may be bit slow at this time of day but why, for the second day in a row, are people mentioning the $99 MGM offer when there is a different offer for $69 a day that covers over 50% of all possible dates between now and December?

OK, cool, dont worry, I wasnt too spooked.

I am at the stage now where I am thinking that I was mad to book a flight with a connection vs a direct flight just to save some £ (I learnt about Virgin miles and money fares on here too late to use them :o ). I have to keep reminding myself that the difference in price has paid for a Cirque ticket, or a few meals out etc.

I know what you mean about manic running to catch connections, had this problem in Atlanta a number of years back held up at security (everyone, not just me  ). I missed my connection and the following two and ended up begging to be put on the last one that night.

This time I am aiming to take the more relaxed approach that if I am held up there are another 5 UA flights from Chicago to San Francisco that afternoon/evening (I think, if I remember correctly) so I am bound to be able to get on one of them....... she says hopefully

I will, of course, let you know how I get on.

Hannah - have a great trip...can't wait to hear about it when you get back.

Which reminds me, I think mookybargirl is due back soon...really looking forward to hearing about her trip too. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Thanks Ferf, I havent had a chance to sit down and read/plan my Las Vegas time yet, work and life is getting in the way so far (still havent had the all clear from the Dr to fly yet    .........but I am trying to ignore that (Ear trouble) I plan to go anyway :shhh: as apparently all that will happen is a perforated ear drum...great.)

Added to that, last night I stood on a piece of metal on my way home which decided to lodge its way through my Crocs and into my foot. ouch. Have just recieved a Tetanus jab and a course of antibiotics.....someone doesnt want me to go on this trip

Anyway, the point of my post was that I might be on here over the next few days with some more questions for you veterans.

I tell you, there will be a huge sigh of relief once I get on that plane and I am on my way

  • We go to LA via Chicago in November (coming back from Las Vegas direct though, thankfully!). Should I be prepared for running through the terminals then?

We have 1h 40m between flights and the terminals are the farthest away possible. What's the train link like between terminals in Chicago?

Also, can anyone tell me if we have to collect baggage and check in again or do they transfer it onto the new plane? Thanks! :)
