I prebooked our seats for our trip, towards the front and left of cattle as the plane empties as described here. So we were at the front of the queue at immigration, but to be honest we were then stood round waiting with people from behind us at the baggage carosel. Swings and roundabouts IMHO.
I think next time I'd pre-book for comfort though.{Signature removed by Forum Team}0 -

yeah you might end up waiting for your bags anyway if your right at the front . but as ferf said the only good free seats on the Virgin flight are the ones previously described which are extremely limted.
Virgin know how to fill a 747 and i have to say comfort wise this flight probably tops my worst list of any i have taken , but the free drinks and entertainment go someway to off setting it.
. will let you know how BMI compares in Dec.Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
I booked the flight last month but had no option of pre booking my seat. I'll try and check in online as early as possible. Thanks for the advice.0

You should have the option of prebooking seats.
Go on to the Virgin website, select manage flights, put in your details and hey presto a seat map link should appear.0 -

My best Virgin story is when I was flying Upper Class to Boston.
Stewardesses fawning over you etc, sitting at the UC bar enjoying a G&T and eating nibbles, chatting to the guy at the bar next to me about the Red Sox game etc. "Please take your seats" came over the tannoy. The guy folds up his paper, stuffs handfuls of nibbles into his pocket, glugs down a couple of glasses of champagne on the bar, and says "see you mate", and heads for the back of the plane. Priceless!!!illegitimi non carborundum0 -
It may not apply to most here, but someone posted recently on the Las Vegas Talk thread to say that he went to the airport a few days ago to board his flight to Vegas and he was turned away because travelocity.co.uk hadn't paid the airline! He had booked a flight/hotel package with them. He eventually got on a flight the following day, but had 2 stops instead of 1. If anyone books through travelocity may be worth checking with the airline a few days before your flight.
As for the fate of this thread, Trets - maybe you could do what fatwallet does and 'archive' this thread with a link to a new 2008 thread, and in the first post of the 2008 thread link back to this one? Though as someone said, not sure how long until old threads die around here...but I bet that people would still post on the 2007 thread for awhile at least.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

We usually fly Virgin to NYC but last time on the way back, we ended up with the central seats right in the middle of the plane in front of the toilets. After 4 hours I wanted to kill myself because we were so squashed as your seats don't recline but the people in front were fully back and completely in our face. Add to that the constant slamming of the toilet door 4 times a minute through the night it wasn't a great flight.
Saying that, all the other times we have flown with them and had the 2 seats towards the tail the flights have been fab.
BMI compare very well with Virgin IMO, flew with them to San Diego, food was great, staff very nice and good individual entertainment systems.
Flying with AA to Vegas in October and not looking forward to the changeover in Chicago at all :eek:0 -
