    Thanks Trets
Didn't realise the South Point was that far out to be honest
Anywhere else a bit closer with a similar price range you can think of
Orleans not getting very good reviews at the moment

Nothing wrong with the Orleans...good pool and bowling alley and all rooms have an area with a sofa in.

IMO the reason it is getting poorer reviews is that it has changed hands and americans are comparing before and after as it were.

Again IMO I would stay on the strip for the whole time you are there except maybe for the weekends to save some money.

As we arrive on a Wed would you say spend Wed to Sat in Orleans then Sun-thurs on strip then off strip for weekend and finish up with Mon and tuedsay back on the strip....that's a lot of moving around
Perhaps I'd be better off with 1 week circus circus and 1 week Luxor
Another question ...Barbary Coast is coming out with reasonable rates....whats that like....doesn't have a pool does it??? if not are you able to use another hotels pool

i,d rather move around than stay at Circus Circus . you were considering Places like the The Flamingo ..your dropping signaficantly down ladder if you go Circus circus.

try orleans as mentioned then then get yourself onto the strip mon- thus and see if you can push for a good weekend offer and stay the 2nd Fri - sat , so you are only really stumping up for one full weekend at strip rates

if you cannot squueze to that then try and get downtown for the remaining stay or Tuscany . either way know what what your are alternatives are before jumping in the Bargain bucket that is Circus Circus ( it's Bargain bucket for a reason !!!) and you will be within easy hitting distance of the strip.

P.S the pool at Orleans looked very nice in that program as well. you could do a LOT worse i think.

Barbary Coast is only 200 rooms and is superbly located so you may well struggle to get a room/ deal . it has no pool but you are allowed to use it,s sisiter properties pools via the free shuttle ( i.e Orleans , gold and sun coast) . so you might as well stay at them as a pool is important to you.
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

The moving around doesnt bother me, but at the end of the day it is what you want to do, and how much you want to spend.

first 4 days at orleans would be good, they have a shuttle to the strip..BUT I would still want to be on strip for my first experiance, but I wouldnt chose CC for that first time either ( I have stayed there twice) it is OK but not as nice as most and the pools are not great.

Barbary Coast...now called Bills is a great location but small and no pool.

You will have to decide wether you want to be mid strip, north strip , south strip or off strip, and how many time you want to move...we can only advise .

Luxor is ok if you want to be that end

Orleans is good if you want off strip

    PH or flamingo for central

CC or sahara or strat if you want to be that end (furthest away)

These are only my choices and partly chosen beacause of availability of offers.

I would love the Flamingo for 1 week and Luxor for 1 week those are my 2 choices within my budget unfortunately it doesn't look like the prices are coming down much yet and I'm not sure if I'm prepared to wait much longer without having anything booked.
I'f I do go for the Luxor MVP I wont be able to cancel.....this is why I'm a little undecided....will the Luxor come down anymore than the MVP price....I've been told not....but who knows

I cant remember what dates you are going, but it does seem like you may have picked the worst month as there are some deals at flamingo thru to jan but none for oct.

PH has some nights in oct for $99 for 3 people.

It does look like you may struggle to get rooms for the sort of prices I like to pay.

As has been said before you could always book hotels for the entire stay that let you cancel and then if something better comes up.hey presto.

Oct 24th-Nov 7th if you can help with any suggestions that would be great

looking at your dates Photome is right there do seem to be a lot of high prices for week nights. on the week starting 28th  escpically around Haloween :undecided . a bit disconcerting i know. weekend prices seem to be lower for the 26th and 27th Oct than week nights on 29th onwards to the 3rd

. i,m sure this is because it is haloween !!. hey look on the bright side you haven,t had to swerve a entire holidays dates to avoid it like i did. trying pricing a Hotel in Salem , Massachusetts for that week  ..ouch

your probably going to be better to get off strip that week to avoid the high prices.

suggest the following book either Circus Circus , Excalibur, Luxor, Stratosphere for the 24th to 29th Oct

i still don,t recommend Circus Circus but we will use it as a fall back position if your nervous about being left high and dry. we can always cancel later when we find something better. The Luxor may not drop futher , depends how happy you are with current no refund price. if your happy ...book it i say and don,t look back. we would all love to be able to know that we got the best possible deal for our money , but you can't always do this. all the others we will be able to cancel.

Get off the strip 30th Oct -4th Nov to Orleans or south point ect . using Travelaxe tools/ travelworm as guide the shake up at around $600-$700 for 2 rooms for above 2, you can then go direct to hotel and hopefully get a price match.
if you really do want to save serious money consider somewhere downtown like Fitzgeralds which has some really cheap deals on is slap bang on Freemont street. okay not that classy but you should check it out if budget is tight.

4th - 7th Nov ... move again or stay put . Strip prices seem to be reurning to normal weekday prices. maybe have a look at Flamingo deal for $100 per night as a start ( still available i checked )

just a suggestion of course. if you can get refunds from you bookings ...get booking !! what have you got to lose.

your orginal idea of south point , Luxor and Flamingo for £1000 is still not bad IMO . Personally south point for me is too far out, but it.s not me going . it may be just your thing. like you say it will be very relaxing start and has great pool and a free shuttle..

We dont gamble (I dont mind the dogs and horses - but vegas is all about casino's) - so is a week to long or would we be best spending 3 nights vegas, 1 night grand canon, 3 nights vegas?

We went for 9 days for the first time a couple of weeks ago, we aren't big gamblers at all, and I have to say we never got bored at all, and indeed could have filled a fortnight easily.
