I realise this may be a bit of a contrary viewpoint but does anyone else not think getting married in Las Vegas is a bit yesterday ?
Unless,of course, you come from Essex in which case it's the next best thing after Marbella.
Hmm thanks for that helpfull input, bye.{Signature removed by Forum Team}0 -
Thanks Trets
Didn't realise the South Point was that far out to be honest
Anywhere else a bit closer with a similar price range you can think of
Orleans not getting very good reviews at the moment:hello: LORRAINE :hello:0 -
If anyone wants a bit more info on the Skywalk, take a look at the following link where I've done a short report on it:
http://www.roadtripamerica.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10511&page=3
Hope it helps answer a few questions.
Thanks for linking this tingtong. We were thinking of going out there in October rather than the usual Canyon routes but we were going to do a light aircraft trip instead of driving. Still undecided as to which we will do, OH wants to see Skywalk I just want to see the Canyon from a good vantage point so will weigh up our options0 -
I got married on vegas in november and it was nowhere near tacky, there was about 20 of us, we stayed and got married at the bellagio and had our meal in nine fine irishmen at new york new york. All the people there said it was the best wedding they had been to, a lot more relaxed and one hell of a party in nine fine it was a free bar all night. And all in it cost us far less than it would have to get marreid back home. Hotel over here charge you £30 or so for a set meal over there you can let your guests have what ever they want and have drink for the same cost. I would not have done it any other way.0

a few questions if you dont mind.
Thinking of going for 1 week early december.
I have been told early december is the quietest time and thus the cheapest.
Is this true?
Friends went early december last year. They booked 4 days prior to depature and it cost them £410 each including taxes for flights and hotel at the stratosphere.
Is this sort of deal common when booking last minute?
Are the flights very cheap the day before?
Is it worth hiring a car?
Is there good shopping oppourtunitys for the wife?
We dont gamble (I dont mind the dogs and horses - but vegas is all about casino's) - so is a week to long or would we be best spending 3 nights vegas, 1 night grand canon, 3 nights vegas?
Are things in vegas as cheap as florida?
thanks for any replies.0 -
It's taken me a while to catch up on this thread.
I did Grand Canyon by helicopter when I was there 2 years ago. Absolutely worth every penny. We didn't want a whole day to be taken up by sitting on a coach. We landed in the Canyon for a quick drink and pastry as we flew about 6am I think (as it's cooler to go early morning). The views on the ground are as amazing as the ones from the air. Went with Maverick who were superb. We had done the Canyon and were back at the hotel before lunchtime. I couldn't recommend it enough.
My only addition is that I'm not claustrophic, but I felt a little ill on the way there, so got to sit in the front on the way back. This was much better. I don't remember any bumps really for the guys asking about this.
5 weeks on Sunday and it's "Bright light city gonna set my soul, gonna set my soul on fire........."Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -
What's the Tuscany like....someone suggested it as a nice place fairly easy to walk onto strip:hello: LORRAINE :hello:0

i assume your friends deal was a package deal.
i,m flying on the 13th of Decemeber for 7 nights, our flights cost us £292 and hotels if i go for the ones i have already booked ( Mirage is definate )
Mirage has cost us $449 ( including to Fri and Sat night) =£225
Paris has cost us $291 =£145
so £292 x2 = £586 + £225 +£145 = £956 / 2 = £478 per person.
and yes it is regarded as the Vegas quite period. ( week or 2 after new year too, with new year being probably it's busiest !!)Are the flights very cheap the day before
unfortunalty none of thoose rates are available now but if you chanced a My travel late flying on 5th a sub £300 fare should be achievable . between now and then book any hotels you like the look of knowing you can get a full refund if needs be. i would not advise leaving booking till the day before though keep and eye on the prices from start of novemeber onwards and swoop when you think it is as low as it's going to get without selling out.
if your determined to go via a package the price you quoted is not unreasonalbe ( for a package) , however the comprise is the quality of your Hotel. the Strat, Circus circus and the Excalibur are the ones most likely to be your choices at that sort of price. try to Get Imperial Palace as a alternative if you can . your weekend paper travel supplement ( i recomend the The Times and The Mail) often have offers like this in. but do really want to be low balling it in these hotels knowing me and the OH are living it up in the luxury hotels for about the same price??? if you are prepared to do your own leg work , it;s always better toIs there good shopping oppourtunitys for the wife?
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: how long have you got ???? Shopping is a HUGE !!!concern in Vegas . Most of the Big casinos have Malls that make places like the Bullring in Birmingham for example look like kids stuff. your only limitations with regards to shopping is your budget. and there are numerous places for every Budget. The Forum Mall @ Ceasers Palace for example has to be seen to be appericated , and has some great places to eat inside too. for bargain hunters see my post a few pages back on the Factory outlets available. We dont gamble (I dont mind the dogs and horses - but vegas is all about casino's) - so is a week to long or would we be best spending 3 nights vegas, 1 night grand canon, 3 nights vegas?
:rotfl: :rotfl: hey do you know they have Gambling in Las Vegas now ??? i bet if you knew nothing else about the place you knew that.!
a good quote ( not mine) i like to use is that Gambling as regards to Vegas is like a Iceberg. it's probaly only a 8th of the all the great things there are to do , yet it is all some people who have never been can see . hell 2 weeks isn't long enough for your 1st trip IMO , the chance's of getting bored or running out of things to do in a week there are ZERO. that said a Grand Canyon stop over ( espically a helicopter trip) is a fantastic idea...do it !!! and no Vegas is not all about Casino Games . pop into Mandalay Bay for Example and see the Race and sports Book area ( where you place bets on any and i do mean any sporting events ect) to see what i mean . again you will have to see it to appericate it , all i can say about it is WOW  and all Casino's have a sports book unless i,m mistaken. Is it worth hiring a carBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
