Las Vegas 2007 bargain hunt + tips

For some people the tackiness is what appeals about a Las vegas wedding, the whole white meringue dress overpriced English do putting couples 10k in debt can be offensive to some people too.
Many couples can't afford this extravagance so prefer to spend a couple of grand getting married abroad with out 2 years of preparations and headache.
Whichever way people decide to get married as long as they are happy and love each other, and have a great day then what does it matter !0 -
I realise this may be a bit of a contrary viewpoint but does anyone else not think getting married in Las Vegas is a bit yesterday ?
Unless,of course, you come from Essex in which case it's the next best thing after Marbella.
Just to clarify, we did not get married in Vegas, we got married at the Grand Canyon. Do you know many people who got married there ?
Also, at least you can almost guarantee good weather getting married there. Imagine having your perfect day booked for this weekend !0 -

I stand corrected - what a great idea to get married in such a beautiful location.
I wanted to get married at Heathrow Airport but Air Traffic Control wouldn't give clearance for my future mother-in-law to land on her broomstick.0 -
In an effort to save money for our trip (Oct24th-Nov7th)we have decided to split it into 3
4 days off strip to relax after our flight and unwind a little and 10 days on strip .
I'm contemplating the following hotels in this order.
South Point for 4 days they have a lovely pool and a bowling alley and cinema for my 16 year old plus the equestrian centre.Added bonus of Airport pick up and shuttle to Mandalay bay.
Luxor for 5 days with their MVP offer and I'm hoping to get and upgrade but want to stay in the pyramid so not sure about that.
Flamingo for 5 days with their naughty but nice promo....hoping to get an upgrade for a strip view room.
What do you think of these prices.....do you think I can get a better deal if I wait......I know I wont be able to change the luxor MVP room if I book it now.
South Point...delux room with 42" plasma screen...........$410
Luxor..........Delux tower room.................................£841
Flamingo.......If the package is still available...........$806
total $2057....=£1000.....or there abouts.........more than I want to pay but beggars can't be choosers
Does everyone think these prices for 2 adults and 1 teen are good???:hello: LORRAINE :hello:0 -

i could not agree more. if a whole big wedding and whole lot of organising and 5 figure bill at the end of it is the way you want to go. then best of luck to you. personally i did not want to spend 10k + on a wedding where people moan about the food ( like all the other 10K+ weddings i have ever been too)
getting married in Vegas has it own charm IMO , and it can of course be like the above if you want it too. but to say it is unorginial is a step too far. we are the only people i know who have ( but then i don,t get out much with having to work lots of overtime to pay for my travels). okay it may not be your cup of tea but we did what we wanted to do ...and i don,t brook criticism for it.
what is Orginial then ???? ...getting married on Caribbean beach ?? i,m sure we alll know some one who has done that. may i direct you to this you tube link please nobjocki http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=IxR0JY-FMh8 ( and anyone else who wants 3 mins of entertainment :rotfl: :rotfl: )
i think getting married at the Grand Canyon is very original and sounds like a fantastic idea to me:beer: :beer:Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

South Point often have bogof promotions...or you could try the Orleans, prob not quite as nice but a good pool and bowling alley and much closer to the strip. I know you say you want to relax....but it is your first 4 nights ever in Vegas and south point is way in the distance....you can only just see mandalazy bay from there....I wouldnt like to be that far away, but that is only my opinion.
Luxor I dont know to much about other than being a bit dated but you cant stay in a pyramid room anywhere else in the world.
Flamingo seems overpriced for 5 nights..I payed $60 a night earlier this year and hope to again next march as they have promised me an upgrade to a GO room if and when I return....even with three in a room I would have thought $100 a night should cover it.0 -
I thought it a bit steep for Oct/Nov ....I know there are 3 of us but I still think that's a bit much. Not many promos about yet:hello: LORRAINE :hello:0

your right only 14 promos for Nov on the promotions site. yet look at august and there over 40+ .
south point is well off the strip , so i could not stand my first 4 nights there knowing all the action was out of reach. last four maybe a better idea.
just keep checking and hold tight the offers will start to appear.
that said as long as it is not a no refund offer book whatever takes your fancy and cancel when something better comes along. i will be dropping my Paris booking if a Good "The Hotel" offers comes along i think.
your going to vegas thats the main thing , the actual hotel choices can be made pretty much up till you go.Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
If anyone wants a bit more info on the Skywalk, take a look at the following link where I've done a short report on it:

Hope it helps answer a few questions.0 -

I agree entirely - each to their own.
It's just that even in the 80's Las Vegas was the modern equivalent of getting hitched in Gretna Green.
I mean - Chris Evans got married there and you can't get more tacky than that.0
