  • Hi all
I'm a newbie to this site & forum so excuse me if I've missed previous stuff!
Anyone had any experience of this BB provider:
    http://efhbroadband.com  ?
Offering unlimited 512k at £9.99/month + vat. Set up costs highish, 3 month min. contract, doing migrations from 4th October. Looks interesting, any catches?

Doesn't look like there are any catches - I signed up today, and await connection. I'll be happy to post again once I've tried it out.

Only down-side I can see is the high connection fee!

Just gone live with e7even on Sunday.

Had to ring their premium rate number for a quick support chat but my call was answered quickly and correctly, also had another enquiry but needed to be online with my dial-up access to resolve it so e-mailed them asking them to ring my mobile to discuss / resolve; within 3 mins of me e-mailing them they had rang.  So overall v.good and pleased with everything.

I did a fair amount of reviewing of ADSL ISP's (ISP.review.co.u and ADSLGuide.org.uk) and they came out consistently well (not perhaps the best at everything but very good overall), also a collegue at work has been with them for nearly a tear and has never had any issues.

  • bt yahoo dropped charge to me from £27 to £20 for 4 months today when I threatened to leave for Wanadoo at £18 - phone the cancellation line on 0800 0852817
  • I use the cheapest Metronet service but there is now another pay-as-you-go provider https://www.lixxus.co.uk who do NOT have a minimum charge.
Sounds good at first but please check your usage as Metronet is STILL cheaper above 200MBYTES a month.
I don't download much or play PC games but I am on X.box Live and I only use 800MBytes a month.
My most expensive month (just over 1Gig of data) was still only £14.50 inc vat. (My min was 330MB - £12.15).

And Metronet have been great at support and service for me for well over a year now.

So this Lixxus service is ideal for your mate who only uses email and rarely gets attachments but PLEASE take care to recommend it only to people who understand about MegaBytes and who can control their usage to <200MB per month.

    Hope this helps.

Dial-start. (Featured in Martins Article as a best buy at £17.99 ) have now finished their Special Offer and are charging £23.99

  • Please help me, I'm a broadband virgin. I want to switch to broadband and having read Martin's article understand that an all-inclusive deal is the best because it includes the modem and connection fee. This seems to narrow it down to two at the moment - Tesco and BT ((19.99 and 17.99 respectively for the basic packages). BT's site seems to suggest that it is only on its next package (£24.99) that you can have two PCs connected. Is this the case? We have a lap-top and desk-top in different locations and we want to have the choice of using either for broadband access, although probably not at the same time. How does this work? Also, do I have to change my email address (from virgin.net) if I go with bt or tesco? Last question - BT's £24.99 deal offers freen online help plus a free telephone helpline, as well as other extras - do you think this is a good deal? Like all Moneysavers I want a good deal but don't mind paying a bit more to get exactly what I want. We're not into downloading music or anything but we might be if we could. It's mainly for faster surfing and emails. Help me fellow Moneysavers!
  • I am trying to change to broadband from dial up as we now have BB in our village. I contacted tesco's yesterday as it looked like a resonable basic package with 512K access. Unfortunately they do not have total coverage and are unable to provide in my area - E Kent - something to do with type 3 & 4 and were not able to advise how soon they could provide - so its back to the drawing board - I would stick with aol as have used them for three years without issues but for £19.99 per month it is only 256K.
  • Hey

Have just read Yesterdays Express (Saturday) and there was an advert in there for unlimited 512k Broadband and unlimited local and national calls anytime for a stonking £24.99 a month. Tell me if I' wrong but this looks a very good deal. It's with phones4u who say u can get more details in their shops or go to their website which is https://www.phones4u.co.uk although I couldnt find anything on there as yet.
