  • Hi, I've just been surfing ISPs including the latest update from Martin, ie V21, they look pretty good at 512kbps for £16.99, particularly as they are advertising 10:1 contention rates! Anybody know anything about them? It's a difficult decision between them, Metronet and E7even. Anyone got a three-headed coin?
  • I have just joined e7even.com for £12.50 per month for Broadband @ 512K with no limits on how much to download.

    The Catch is that i had to pay £300 for 24 months in one lump sum. 24 x £12.50 = £300 :D

    Isn't there an option to go for 12 months @ £150? :o:o:o

Having also just signed up to the same service I think you've forgotten that you didn't have to pay the connection fee on the 24 month package saving you £50 (unless you were already on broadband and tranferred?), this brings the monthly comparison down to nearer £10 pm ;D

  • Regarding paying £300 for 24mths in advance, maybe I'm an old cynic but I've had a couple of bad experiences in the past with dial-up, with newcomers to the scene advertising great bargains if you tie yourself in for a year or so. Then what happens? Everyone jumps on the bandwagon and the servers get overloaded so you have problems getting online, or the company gets taken over and you find you have to re-register, losing your email address at the very least. Still maybe the new BB ISPs will have learned from the problems of dial-up. :-/

I agree with your sentiments / concerns regarding long contracts and I was initally only looking at short term (1 - 3 month) contracts.

As I have posted previously I did a lot of research using ISPReview and ADSLGuide and a collegue at work has been with E7even for nearly a year and has had no issues.

E-mail is not a big problem as I own my domain so I can just re-point my domain e-mail to a new provider if there are any problems.

The future is a different issue but life is about risk / reward judgements and at an equivellent £10pm (special offer no longer available) I decided to take the risk.  Time will tell.

  • Hello,

Is there anyway out of a 12 month broadband contract? In signed up to Tiscali BB in March and to be honest we dont do downloading as much as we used to and we are trying to cut our bills so would really like to cancel and go back to dial up. A lot of the time its so slow I think I already have!!

    Any ideas please?
  • Just found this, just incase it hasnt been mentioned its £14.99 a month for 1mb with 1gb. can be expanded up to max downloads.
