re swimming we were told not to take riley till he had at least had his first injections and prefrably not untill he was able to sit up (around 6months) or until he had had all his first injections not sure when this is cant remember which is sad because i loved taking my other 2 swimming and its a proper pool designed for families no steps and open area i can leave things i may need on a peg right by the pool it even has playpens on the pool sides and changing rooms.
riley is now 7 weeks and 13lb6 still breastfeeding and baby wearing.
Is that just because Riley is small for his age? The firm I use says from 4 weeks old:

One of the Bounty books I had said there is no need to wait for vaccinations before taking your baby swimming but then my most recent one (the toddler one) said you "might want to" wait until they've had the first course of vaccinations. We never went till about 8 1/2 months but that was just because we never got round to it till then.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

Hiya
Firstly I forgot that at the BF clinic I had to demonstrate a BF to every single person. I almost felt more embarressed about that then exposing all my bits during delivery ...:rotfl: .
Congrats Gem on your new addition ... agree that you should enjoy the free time whilst you have it, but perhaps you might encourage him to wake in the day time with extra feeds as well as perhaps a bath. Also because he is prem you need to keep up feeds ...
Cathie - are you sure your LO is well. Sounds like something has triggered off this recent 'behaviour'. Could well be the teeth, but perhaps there is a bit of ear ache or something (though they usually prefer to stay upright when this happens). Personally at 6m I wouldn't bother with the purees. Babies really on need purees if they are weaned before 6m. Stick with BLW foods.
Nadnad - stick with a cup if you baby has taken to it. I spoon fed my DD when I was struggling with cracked nipples when she was 3w - I didn't want to do a bottle cos I didn't want nipple confusion and I was desparate to carry on BFing.
Chocoholic110 - go with slices (fist size) of fruit or veg. Pieces of toast and even a whole banana. I didn't do l-time BLW as I found it too difficult to fit in with what everyone else in the house was eating, but every opportunity I have to give her food that she can eat herself, I do.
My sincere condolences to you Becles.0 -

What is it with toilets? Charlotte is obsessed with ours.
The other day my husband was just about to use it. He was standing there bits in hand, when Charlotte hurtled in at top speed and chucked a teddy head first down the loo. He had to try and hold on while he fished the teddy out before he could go :rotfl:Here I go again on my own....0 -
hi everyone, ages since i last posted.
Septemberbaby if you are 'listening' hope your pregnancy is going well and that you are coping ok with a baby and being pregnant.
Really interested in the baby led weaning. my son is now 5 1/2 months old and i have been giving him 2 meals a day for about a month now. i hate weaning. is baby led weaning not just the same as giving finger foods from the beginning? it would make my life so much easier on the go if i could give my son something to hold and eat rather than spooning mush in. i suffer from a severe lack of imagination and skill with weaning. i just tend to muddle through it. Everything i read seems to say different - no finger foods before 7 months etc.
Does anybody give stage 2 things like rice cakes, etc before 7 months?
The only thing that keeps me positive is that my 3 other children are all able to eat solids!!!!
My son is now fully bottle fed and having 2 meals a day and sleeping approx 12 hours at night so all going well - my milk has almost dried up which i am really pleased about - just waiting for my dreaded periods to return.now mum of 4!!!0 -
3kids My LO did fingerfoods first at 5mths 3 weeks - I think it depends on motor skills more than anything.MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0

I got an interestng email from a friend this morning about mum's and I thought I'd share it as its scarily true!
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO PLAN TO BE GREAT MUMS,
THOSE OF YOU, WHO ARE GREAT MUMS,
THOSE WHO HAVE GREAT MUMS AND THOSE OF YOU WHO HAD GREAT MUMS...
Real Mothers don't eat quiche; they don't have time to make it.
Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils are probably in the sandbox.
Real Mothers often have sticky floors, filthy ovens and happy kids.
Real Mothers know that dried play dough doesn't come out of shag carpets.
Real Mothers don't want to know what the vacuum just sucked up.
Real Mothers sometimes ask 'Why me?' and get their answer when a little voice says, 'Because I love you best.'
Real Mothers know that a child's growth is not measured by height or years or grade... It is marked by the progression of Mama to Mum to Mother...
4 YEARS OF AGE - My Mummy can do anything!
8 YEARS OF AGE - My Mum knows a lot! A whole lot!
12 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother doesn't really know quite everything.
14 YEARS OF AGE - Naturally, Mother doesn't know that, either.
16 YEARS OF AGE - Mother? She's hopelessly old-fashioned.
18 YEARS OF AGE - That old woman? She's way out of date!
25 YEARS OF AGE - Well, she might know a little bit about it.
35 YEARS OF AGE - Before we decide, let's get Mum's opinion.
45 YEARS OF AGE - Wonder what Mum would have thought about it?
65 YEARS OF AGE - Wish I could talk it over with Mum.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, but true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows, and the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows!

honeybe I asked the HV when Ellie was just weeks old and she said I didn't have to wait for any jabs. Like someone else said check out your local pools as a few of my local pools have easy access into the pool.
Becles sorry to hear of your loss (((((hugs)))))
3KIDSNOMONEY yes I gave Ellie stuff for above her age. She is 8 months and eats things for 12 months (i.e organic crisp type things) and manages fine.Everyone is entitled to their opinionEllie 25/12/070
