As well as the link already given, ask your midwife what the local arrangements are. You do have to be a bit careful though because if you express a lot in addition to feeding it can be hard to regulate to baby's needs.ON that subject: If I produce more than is needed - which going on sheer size and family history from my mum I will... - is there a network set up where I can "share" my surplus and help someone else? Like someone here getting breast milk from someone else when they were little?
Like I said before, I just used to flood while feeding ... although when DS1 was a few weeks old I was expressing and sharing with my best friend, because she was on antibiotics following a nasty infection and struggling to feed her son who was a few weeks older than mine. We had the same midwife, and it was her who asked if I'd consider doing this because I seemed to have plenty. I'd have done it for anyone, but for my best friend's baby? Like a shot! Carried on for a bit after my friend didn't need it any more, then they closed the milk bank, so I'm glad they've been able to re-open them.Signature removed for peace of mind0
