ON that subject: If I produce more than is needed - which going on sheer size and family history from my mum I will... - is there a network set up where I can "share" my surplus and help someone else? Like someone here getting breast milk from someone else when they were little?
As well as the link already given, ask your midwife what the local arrangements are. You do have to be a bit careful though because if you express a lot in addition to feeding it can be hard to regulate to baby's needs.
Like I said before, I just used to flood while feeding ... although when DS1 was a few weeks old I was expressing and sharing with my best friend, because she was on antibiotics following a nasty infection and struggling to feed her son who was a few weeks older than mine. We had the same midwife, and it was her who asked if I'd consider doing this because I seemed to have plenty. I'd have done it for anyone, but for my best friend's baby? Like a shot! Carried on for a bit after my friend didn't need it any more, then they closed the milk bank, so I'm glad they've been able to re-open them.
