I have to agree - BF is definitely in my view the way to go - if we were meant to feed formula then we'd surely not have these milk producing blobs in front? :)
Ok if you don't produce enough for whatever reason then fine - formula is a great substitution! Or as they did in the olden days - go to someone who has more milk than their little one needs and allow little 'un to feed once a day there :)
ON that subject: If I produce more than is needed - which going on sheer size and family history from my mum I will... - is there a network set up where I can "share" my surplus and help someone else? Like someone here getting breast milk from someone else when they were little?

Mrs Tine I think there was a link in a post entitled pro's and cons of breastfeeding (it's very long though so you'll have to trawl through)
It is a very emotive subject and it is not always as simple as it seems - I've not heard the theory that size and genetics plays a part but it's an interesting one

xcat_girlx - I have to say I wasn't hugely happy with the terminology either... I really don't mean to be rude but are you really sure you want and are ready for a baby? You think breastfeeding is "yucky" and I just get the feeling you want a baby but not all the stuff that comes with it... all the sleepless nights, the pain, the worry and the total life change that it will mean.
Are you absolutely certain this is what you want? I really am not trying to be rude! It's a genuine concern!
When I was early 20's I wanted a baby too - now I'll be 29 when Bean arrives if all goes well through the pregnancy - and I think it's a good age to start in hindsight. I wasn't ready at 21 although I thought I was - I've had a chance to have fun and make silly mistakes and now I truely honestly am ready for bean... Well as much as I can be :) I've got a career which pays well, so does hubby, which makes it easier to return at a decent level after my maternity leave.
I don't want to tell you you shouldn't have a baby this early - I am just worried you might not be quite prepared for the impact it is bound to have on your lives...

Have you seen Matrix Cup car seat by Jane? Where baby can be completely flat?... It is expensive, but so far it is my favourite (not that I am pg yet, just doing my bit of research...)

We've got the Matrix cup car seat and Slalom Pro travel system. Our son is just growing out of the car seat in Lay-flat mode now at 5 1/2 months. It is fantastic in our eyes, apart from being really fiddley to strap into the car, when it is in seated mode - lay-flat is really easy, just 1 clip onto seatbelts at each end. It is worth the extra in our opinion, as it means that you can do long car journeys without having to keep stopping (with normal seats the guidance is that you shouldn't have babies strapped in for more than a couple of hours).

I'm pretty sure that he would be dead in an accident in that thing though.

i disagree that younger mothers tend not to breastfeed. i was only 16 with DD1, 18 with DS1, 22 with DD2, 24 with DS2 and now 25 with baby 5 and i have breastfed them all. there are a lot of younger people in my area that breastfeed and i tend to find the older woman bottle feed?

Babies change your life in everyway and should you should not think that everything will be a bed of roses. we dont go out very often and even though when baby is small everyone offers to babysit the novelty soon wears off, along with the extra help. My OH works for himself and sometimes that can be more problems as i dont get a break if he is havingto stay on at a job. must say i wouldnt change it for the world but you soon find out who your real friends are!
What's for you won't go past you

this threads been v busy today!

lets not go down the whole pros and cons of BF again - there was another thread on this and it got heated! lets keep this a happy place where we come to moan and laugh bout being mums (and dads).

xcat_girlx i really suggest you get pregnant first then you'll know whether you will breast feed or not - its a personal issue and its hard to know exactly what you'll do when it comes down to it. can i recommend these threads

and can i also say babies can be as expensive or cheap as you'd like - well not babies - but the "stuff" that goes with them. and if you don't feel financially ready or you're doubting your financial stability then i would wait a while. But I see you've got a thread asking all about this so I'll leave it there.

anyhow - hows all the babies today?!
mine got his 16 week jabs - 3 of them and his wee legs are all swollen and he's really zoinked - maybe he'll sleep better tonight but i'd rather it didnt take 3 injections to make him!

Well, we did loads of research too, and didn't come up with that opinion. It is really stable in the car and does not budge if you fit it properly - the same as with any car seat. The handle has to be in a certain position too when in either mode, which prevents the baby and carseat being thrown against the seat behind or the seat in front.

If it was really that unsafe, they wouldn't be allowed to sell it here in the UK.

you would be surprised what they can get away with selling in the uk
which doesn't recommend ANY lie flat car seats.
