Hi all - thanks everyone for the cup advice - glad to hear it isn't just me having this probelm though.
I already have the tommee tippee first cup mentioned by Susan and Scruffy and Archie doesn't get quite AS wet with that so hopefully he is taking in a little but I think I will try the doidy cup too for juice and water too as LO likes drinking from my coffee cup so maybe he isn't so flipped on the spouts.
I'm sure it was easier when ds1 was little!!!!MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -
Hi all, gosh haven't posted in here for months but love reading this thread. I have two boys 16 and 11 and 7 months ago had my little daughter Ellie.
I have just read in a weaning book today that I should have been introducing a cup for Ellie to drink water/juice out of and had a total panic!! I thought that happened much further down the line and she's been having water from a bottle!
We got a Tommee Tippee cup free with the steriliser we bought so have got one but am really worried that she won't take it now.
Also can I ask some advice about weaning... I too have been buying the special baby cereals like SeptemberBaby as I thought that was what she was supposed to be having, and now I've just read that she can have Weetabix and Ready Brek which I have sitting in my cupboard!! Can I use normal cows milk with it, warmed up or do I mix with her formula?
I really need some ideas for other foods to give her as well and have just seen this book on Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gina-Ford-Baby-Toddler-Cook/dp/0091906342/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1214942512&sr=8-1 and wondered if any of you had got it, or knew of it? The reviews on Amazon seem quite good but I never know if they are done by the authors friends! :rotfl:
Becles - glad you are enjoying the gym.. I feel I need to join one as I can't shift this baby weight!!
Sorry for the ramble.. hope everyone ok, hugs to those that need them.:j Ellie (Eleanor) Sophie arrived 10 days late on 19th November at 8.21am. 9lbs 1 oz :j0 -
Mazcabs - my HV also said the different types of follow on milk are just a con - no reason to change milks until baby starts drinking cows milk at 12 months.
Quick question - Ruby will not lie down flat at all - so I have taken off the carrycot part of the pram and put on the trolley which does lie completely flat if I want it to but she can be propped up and see a bit more... Shes only 14 weeks old is this a bit young to be wanting to sit up??? she screams and screams when I lay her down19.6.10 Weight loss 6lb0 -

Hi Hopeless Cook I give Henry either Ready Brek with water or Weetabix using formula milk. Other foods he just has whatever we have or sometimes a jar (note he has started taking the lumpier jars quite happily) To be honest it has me and OH start cooking alot more so that he can have some, he loves pasta and thats really easy to make. Hi Pink Princess
I think around 3 months it's quite normal for babies to become more interested in the world around them and want to sit up more often. That said I couldn't say for certain if that's nec. desirable and ok for baby's back...we moved onto the pushchair part of our loola at around this age though so I guess we had the same here (look at me- he's only 8 mths and I'm already forgetting stuff lolololol).MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -
you can use cows milk from 6 months for cooking but not for drinking, kennedy had wheatabix and ready break after the first few weeks of weaning made with cows milk. i never bothered with packets of baby mush, they are expensive imo
i also found annabel karmel to be most helpful and we still use her book now, we have this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Annabel-Karmels-Complete-Toddler-Planner/dp/009190031X/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1214948182&sr=8-30 -

Yep Ruby is exactly the same, shes just too nosey - I have propped the back up to the second sitting position and always lie her flat when she falls asleep. its either this or dont leave the house now until shes sitting unaided lol:rotfl:19.6.10 Weight loss 6lb0 -
Hi all, just wondering if you could give some advice on baby bath seats/supports?
LO is 11 weeks now and rapidly outgrowing the baby bath so I should really put her in the big bath but want some sort of support so there isn't too much strain on my back and I can have hands free to wash.
My dilemma is whether to get one of the lie-back supports for LOs who can't sit up unaided yet (but which she may outgrow pretty soon), or the round/ring bath seat which she would sit up in.
She can't sit unaided obviously but does sit up happily in her swing, so maybe I should just go for the "older" version that she can grow into. Or would it just be far too big for her at this age?
Any thoughts?2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0 -

I found the lie back support absolutely invaluable, especially as I bathed her at the same time as DD1. I can't remember exactly when I stopped using it, but I know I was able to use it even after she could sit unaided as by then she was so accustomed to lying in it for her bath and didn't struggle to sit up. From there we just progressed to her sitting unaided in the bath.
I would certainly suggest that one rather than the older seat type one - I had one of those for DD1 and used it only a couple of times and never for DD2 - it isn't a great design for actually being able to wash them.
I got my lie back one from Mothercare, here - it wasn't expensive and I sold it after she outgrew it for a fiver in my local paper.0
